Apart from getting my warts and moles removed at Nu.Reflections Medical Aesthetic, I also had something else done to my face. Guess which procedure did I undergo?
If you had guessed "botox" then, yes, you are correct! I had square jaw reduction with botox done around 1.5 months ago. It is evident from the photo that I have a squarish, masculine jaw which is unappealing for a female. And because of that, I am always hiding behind my hair and shunning the camera since my face tends to look huge in photos!
See the photo above, I'm hiding my broad jaws with my hair. And for the photos where I do bare my jawline, I would have to edit them before posting it on my blog.
So when I returned to do a review with Dr Ivan Tan of Nu.Reflections Medical Aesthetics after my warts and moles removal, I decided to check with him about jaw slimming. Dr Tan suggested botox to reduce my jaw muscle and I decided to give it a go on the spot. So Dr Tan proceeded to take photos of my face before the treatment. You can opt for numbing cream to be applied to area or just go without it. I didn't have any numbing cream on and the pain was minimal, each jab felt like an ant bite which is bearable.
The results are gradual and hence, more natural. People would probably think that you had lost some weight once they start noticing your slimmer face. I monitored my weekly progress and was surprised to see the results.
Jaw reduction by botox is a popular treatment as it is non-invasive and has no downtime. You can go in during lunch time and return back to school or work without anyone suspecting a thing. The botox usually lasts for around 6-8 months, depending on the individual. By 1 to 1.5 months, you can expect to see a significant reduction in your jaw line.
Now, I don't shun the camera and have been taking more photos than usual. I've also discovered something interesting. If you had read my previous blog entry on photoshopping my pictures, you would know that I use the Photowonder app to slim down my face for photos. And I often use the 'One Click" function where it would give my photo an entire makeover by slimming down the jawline and making the complexion flawless. Guess what? Whenever I use that same function now, it no longer slims down my face. I guess it could automatically detect that my face is slim enough!
My face in the video on the Q&A with Dr Tan was still squarish and big. But not anymore, look at slim my face looks on video now:
