What are your New Year resolutions for your beauty regime this year?

The last time I looked at my list of New Year resolutions, I realised that it looked suspiciously similar to the one I had made two years ago.
The same old plans. Drink more water, lose more weight, eat more healthy, use less makeup and use more SPF. So, I've decided to get more specific this year. My list for health, for instance, will include plans like - 'Do not eat anything that comes in a can/tin/bottle' or 'Make homemade rainbow meals with vegetables in different colours.' Whether I'll actually keep these resolutions is another story, but they are all drawn up and ready to be listed.
So, here are some of the resolutions I have planned under the beauty category for this year. Why not use a few of them in your routine this year?
Subscribe to KISS (Keep it Simple, Stupid): This is really easier said than done. With the variety of beauty stuff in stores, I can't imagine a dresser swept clean of everything except cold cream and a hairbrush. So, I've decided to do the next best thing — use products that multi-task. A moisturiser must double up as sunscreen, radiance booster and base. A tube of colour should be usable for lips, eyes and cheeks. So, I get to keep it simple but not too stupid, right?
Collagen boost will be the new mantra: Everyone knows that the culprit behind sagging skin and wrinkles is collagen loss. Collagen is the tissue that cushions the joints and keeps the skin supple and young. These creams work on the layers of skin where new skin cells are formed and secondly, increase skin cell turnover which stimulates the body's collagen production. Collagen gives the skin the support and firmness it needs to appear much healthier and therefore collagen booster creams are the must-add to every skincare plan.

Experiment with colour: A dash of colour on the cheeks, a pop of colour on the eyes, sparkling tints on the lips and now rainbow hued hair - all this can transform life itself. According to the Pantone Colour style book, the colour 'marsala' is poised to be very trendy next year. Marsala is a wine produced in the region surrounding the Italian city of Marsala in Sicily and this soft wine shade will take centrestage in the beauty market soon. Other colours to try out next year are bronze, coral, almond and violet, which should replace the nudes and beiges of last year.
Eat to feed the skin too: Good food can boost health and enhance skin too. This range of foods can be added slowly to your menu all year.
Experts suggest that the best skin foods are pumpkin, kale, sweet potato, spinach, papaya, fish, eggs, strawberries, apples tomatoes and broccoli as these can do wonders for you. Add a pinch of flaxseed, some walnuts or quinoa and you would be well on your way to creating magic.

Hydration is key: This is always a good resolution to begin the year with. With the matte face look out of fashion now, hydration is back with a bang. So bring on the moisturisers, the facial oils, the luxurious night creams to add some much needed moisture to the skin. Drinking plenty of water is also an important step in keeping this resolution.
Embrace your unique personality: I have always found this to be one of the hardest resolutions to keep so it needs to be on top of one's list every year. It is so much easier to follow the crowd, which is why so many women look so similar at any social event. But if you keep your own colouring and personality in mind, you will make wiser and better decisions. Embracing who you really are and being comfortable with is the first step to looking gorgeous.
It is always a good idea to take a few minutes to list out a bunch of resolutions every New Year. Whether you keep them or not, at least you know you started off right. Happy listing!
