Japanese and Korean men seem to be getting all the attention whenever Asian men are mentioned. Indeed, Chinese men have been neglected by both local and foreign women for the longest time.
But this summer, Chinese men were brought into the limelight once again with “All About Chinese Men 2012,” a survey conducted by the lady’s column of Chinese website 163.com. Over 25 million men and women gave their opinions on a wide range of issues –ranging from fashion, money, work and personal lives- concerning today’s Chinese men.
Based on the poll results, 76% of Chinese men are stressed out by work, family, health and life in general. Although many of them claimed that they just want to be themselves, that they still hold on to their childhood dreams, and that they do not aspire to be rich and famous, “How to earn more money?” is still the no.1 concern for most men.
Character-wise, Chinese men still conform to the traditional image of Asian men. They have strong filial piety towards their parents – they are willing to give their savings to their parents, and worry about their health. They are also good husbands who keep their wives company and give small surprises from time to time. Traditional virtues such as pure, kind and family-oriented still attract Chinese men the most, but compatibility is also important to some who want a partner whom they can converse with on the same wavelength. Chinese men are also becoming more mature, attractive and desirable, according to observations by the women.
