Having a BFF is a lovely and precious thing in life whereby someone apart from your family is there for you during your best and worst times. But for me, my Best-Friend-Forever is none other than my wonderful sister, Tabby. Yes, she is a sister but she is also my BFF who has been there for me throughout all my best and worst times. She is always there to listen, encourage, and enjoy all the good and bad times together with me.
If there is one word I can use to describe our relationship, be it being sisters or as each other’s BFF, the word is STRONG. I am proud to say that we are never jealous of each other and we’re always happy for each other’s achievements. It’s amazing how we both want the best for each other and will keep on being there for each other no matter how busy our lives are. I have seen and heard about many sibling relationships that turn sour, siblings who just hate each other or they just aren’t close to each other at all. I feel very, very blessed to have Tabby as my sister and appreciate the awesome and strong relationship we have as sisters and BFF!
Here’s an interview with her!
1. How did you guys meet?
That would be, our parents! Hahaha!
2. What is your definition of a BFF?
To me, it means someone you can always count on, someone you can talk about anything under the sun with, someone you're 101% comfortable with, someone who will be there with you through thick and thin. Your BFF can be anyone, really. Your mum, your sister, your brother, your husband; it doesn't have to be a friend per say. Lucky for me, my family are my best friends and I wouldn't change a single thing.
3. What made you realise the friendship will be forever?
Well, for my sister and I; we are sisters after all nuff said' hahaha.
4. What are the top 3 characteristics you appreciate of your BFF?
To start it off, we can laugh over anything and over absolutely nothing, literally. So that's her humour. Secondly, she's always supportive of me in everything I do. She always encourages me to go for the things I want to do and she always makes me feel like I am worth it. Lastly, she always buys the birthday cakes (hehe) hahaha just kidding (She does though, all the time.). She never fails to put in effort for all our birthdays and holidays and I really appreciate that. Even though she's busy with her life and family she still finds the time for me and always initiates for us to have sisterly time as we call it.
5. When were the highest and lowest points of your life where you remember your BFF being there for you?
Let's begin with the lowest, shall we? I remember when I was in Primary 2, I did horribly for my Chinese spelling. I had no confidence in myself and felt so helpless whenever it'll be time for spelling as I would leave everything blank, I knew nothing. So she gave me her time and effort by teaching me the next spelling that I had. With her teaching me and practicing for a whole of about two days (I assume, rusty memory.) I went to school filled with confidence this time knowing every single word that would be tested. And I thank my sister so much just for that. She made me realise that if I put in effort in something, I will be able to do it. I will never forget this rather simple thing she did for me, because it really did mean the world to me at that point of time.
And now for the highest point of my life, there are so many to be honest. She's always there for me no matter what. And I say that with absolute confidence because she has.
6. Anything you want to say to your BFF?
Jie, thank you for always being there for me and being the big sister that I believe I am so lucky to have. Even though we don't see each other everyday and in future we will be even more preoccupied with our lives, I know one thing for sure is that we will always find a way to hang out and just spend our sister time together. :) You're the best sister anyone could ever ask for and I am damn freaking grateful to mummy for birthing you and papa for helping :P You're the best, jie. And I love you vall vall muacks!!! <3
