“Summer is the perfect time to experiment with color due to the hot weather and bright color trends in fashion,” says Dustin Lujan, Color Development Director at Le Metier de Beauté.“Adding a pop of bright or neon makeup for the summer is a perfect way to showcase or define a feature with minimal makeup and maximum impact.” Too shy to try the look? “Anyone can wear bright colors—it’s just about strategic placement and highlighting your best features,” says Lujan. The trick is sticking to just one area at a time. “When wearing bright or neon makeup, choose your best feature, whether it be a bold lip, an eclectically lined eye or a punch of color on the cheeks,” Lujan advises. “Keep the rest of the face neutral or complimentary.” Lujan shares how to work the trend:

EYES: “One of the easiest ways to add impact to the eyes is by using the Kokopo Beach face multiple on the eyelids (glistening shades of bronzy taupes and neutrals) and adding black liquid liner on the upper lash line. Lastly, sweep Lapis True Color Eye shadow (medium toned cool blue shade) over the liquid liner with the flat liner brush. This will hold the electric blue color on the liquid liner and give you a summer eye pop.”

CHEEKS: “The chicest way to liven up your cheeks is by using our Cheeky Chic Kaleidoscope Face Kit. Start by using the top tone, Velvet Underground, which is a pure matte salmon-pink. This should be placed along the entire cheek. Next place Dali, a pure matte classic pink, on the apples of the cheeks. Now that you have placed the brightness on the cheeks, use the third color in the kaleidoscope, Ondine, a silky matte beige-nude, on the temples, bridge of the nose and around the jawline, under the chin to frame the cheeks. Lastly place Electra, a sheer gold luminizer, high above the cheekbones to give an electric golden glow to ravishingly bright cheeks.”

LIPS: “When looking to add pop to your pout look no further than our new Birds Of Paradise lip glosses, Genus Strelitzia and Strelitzia Regnae. When using Genus Strelitzia, place a cool tone lip color, such as our Color Core Stain Lip Stick in Bondi Beach, then line with Rouge Dualistic Lip Liner. Lastly, simply mix and add the Genus Strelitzia gloss over the top to receive a perfectly balanced pop of color to the lips. When using Strelitzia Regnae, place a warm tone lip color such as our Hydra-Creme Lipstick in Last Tango (the perfect balance between coral and bright orange that works on all skin tones), then line with Rose Dualistic Lip Liner. Lastly, simply mix and add the Strelitzia Regnae gloss over the top to receive a perfectly balanced pop of color to the lips.”
