Treating my acne scars with Halley’s Fractional CO2 laser treatment.
If you have read my previous posts, you would have know that I have been with Halley for quite awhile now. And today I am going to show you my whole process when doing fractional CO2 laser.

As I’ve mentioned in my earlier post, I have acne-prone skin that left some acne scars on my face. When I consulted Dr. Terence Tan from Halley Medical Aesthetics who is helping me with this problem, he proposed a series of treatments. First, he prescribed me a skincare regime for acne-prone skin using the clinic’s Brilliance skincare range. He also suggested a no downtime glycolic acid peel treatment, which I’ll also be writing about that exfoliates dead skin cells and smoothens my skin. The last step is the fractional CO2 laser treatment.
If you don’t know what is a fractional CO2 laser, it treats a “fraction” or a column of skin at a time. The fractionated (or pixilated) CO2 laser ablates areas of damage done by acne, targeting the water within the skin cells and removing the old layer of skin to reveal new, fresh skin. This replacement of skin and subsequent collagen production helps to lighten acne scars over time. The treatment also smoothens skin texture over time.
Here I am about to start my very first time fractional CO2 laser treatment with Dr Tan!
I was told that conventional CO2 lasers have a downtime of two weeks or more due to the peeling off of skin. But as Dr. Tan uses the fractional CO2 laser, the laser actually uses computer-generated, pixelated, and electronically-generated grids to target small microscopic areas over the face (about 20%-40% of surface area). The unaffected areas help to heal the affected areas, reducing the downtime from two weeks to five days. And if you look very closely, you can see the ‘pixels’ left on my skin by the laser.
The treatment was done in about less than 30 minutes, and after the laser a cool wet cloth was placed on my face to cool down my skin. It felt very comforting!
After treatment care is also very important. I was told to follow a few things after the CO2 laser, and best to stay indoors for the next couple days.
Like you can see from the image below, there is a list of things I need to do which Halley has included in my post-laser care kit that walks me through my recovery!
1. 1 bottle of Physiogel cleanser
2. 1 tube of Bactroban Antibiotic Cream
3. 1 tube of Dhacort Cream
4. 1 packet of Cotton Squares
5. 1 tub of Vaseline
6. 1 bottle of White Vinegar
I have to apply the White Vinegar on my face once in a couple of hours, (mixed the white vinegar with water and place it in the fridge)
This is how I look like during the recovery! From Day 1 to Day 9! Even though I was advised not to go out for the first few days, I did went out to like my boyfriend’s place but Icovered myface with mask and I wore a cap out! It is important not to touch the sunlight and I think we all should abide the rules!
I am so glad that I did my fillers (link) and CO2 with Halley Medical Aesthetics that it makes me look so good and boosts my confidence even without makeups! It is never bad to make one look better and never bad to boost one’s confidence! Also it is important to find a doctor that knows what he is doing, and I am so glad Dr Terence is so nice!
