From luxurious destinations such as the Maldives islands to the more budget-friendly ones like Bali, beach vacations are a great way to unwind and escape from the hustle and bustle of the city life. Nothing says it all like crystal-clear waters, soft sand that feels like powder to touch and the welcoming warmth of the sun. Be prepared to evoke envy by filling up your luggage with these essential resort wear and let those Instagram-worthy photos do all the talking.
Swimsuit
No beach vacation is complete with the most basic travel essential, the swimsuit. Be it a sexy bikini, minimalist one piece suit or even a vintage fashion statement, the key to selecting your perfect swimsuit would be to pick one that suits your body type. Avoid following trends but stick to what you feel comfortable in and you are ready to rock the beach.
Cover Up
A cover-up is a tunic or caftan that adds chic to your entire beach goddess look. Personally, I have a soft spot for crochet cover-ups. The intricate details are not only beautiful but also add an air of mystery and playfulness with its peek-a-boo design. Cover-ups are also great for the modest lady that does not want to reveal too much skin but still wish to partake in the beach activities.
The Maxi Dress
Maxi dresses are flattering for most body types and the must-have dress for any beach resort vacation. You can never go wrong with a maxi dress for any beach vacation, it is the dress that would bring you from the beach BBQ dinner to the dance party at night. Tie a knot at the bottom for ease of movement if you find the hemline too long or simply obstructing your dance moves. And of course, don’t forget to match with a pair of fancy footwear such as the gladiator sandals or one that’s embellished with gorgeous rhinestones.
Accessories
Last but not least, you would need these essential accessories to complete your look. A pair of shades are not just a fashion accessory for looking cool in selfies but also come in handy in protecting your eyes from the harmful UV rays, wind, dust and debris. Just make sure you select the proper sunglasses from a reputable shop. Sunglasses that keep out UV rays would come with a label or sticker that says it provides UV 400 protection, and that it blocks out 99% or 100% of UVB and UVA rays.
Pack a wide-brimmed hat along, as it shades the face and shoulders from the sun and make a chic fashion accessory too. And to carry everything else, bring along a tote bag. My personal favorite would be the classic tote straw bag which is roomy enough for a set of clothes, the beach towel, your shades, swim suit, water bottle, book and even more.
Before you scoot off to your dream beach destination, do not forget your sunscreen lotion. Nothing ruins a perfect vacation like painful sunburn. If you are prone to sunburns though, it would be wise to pack some soothing aloe vera gel along as well.
