Coffee addicts rejoice! Not only is the delicious brown nectar of the gods the best way to start the morning (and afternoon and night), but the beauty benefits of coffee make it well worth sipping and sneaking into your beauty routine. Have your latte and coat your face with it, too (OK, maybe don't actually do that, but...).
In case you missed it, there was an awesome article earlier this week in CNN declaring "those who drank three to five cups and more than five cups had 15 and 12 percent lower death rates" than non-coffee drinkers. Ming Ding, a doctoral student in the Harvard School of Public Health department of nutrition, explained, "The lower risk of mortality is consistent with our hypothesis that coffee consumption could be good for you [because] we have published papers showing that coffee consumption is associated with lower risk of type 2 diabetes and [heart] disease." Don't mind me while I reach for another cup...
Whether you're as obsessed with coffee as me or totally stay away from java, you can get the benefits by incorporating beans into your beauty routine. Or, do as I do and sip coffee while also exfoliating with a coffee-based scrub. #CaffeineCrazed
Below are the top beauty benefits of coffee!
1. It Brightens Your Face
Julia Hunter, MD, a dermatologist at Wholistic Dermatology in Beverly Hills, CA, told Prevention, coffee facial scrub can help brighten skin, prevent clogged pores, and soften lines. The acid in coffee gives you some chemical exfoliation on top of mechanical exfoliation."

For a simple DIY coffee scrub, soak grounds in warm, filtered water and add a scoop of epsom salt. Let the grounds sink to the bottom, then scoop them out and rub all over your face for a gentle exfoliant. Rinse with the leftover water, followed by a splash of cold water to seal in the benefits.
2. It Prevents Premature Aging

Even though wrinkles are totally beautiful, it's kind of awesome the antioxidants in your cup of coffee canfight off wrinkles and pigmentation, according to Organic Authority.
3. It Promotes Hair Growth
Just like coffee stimulates your mind, StyleCraze claims that morning jolt of caffeine also "wakes up" your hair roots and can increase growth.
4. It De-Puffs Tired Eyes
Another Prevention tip? Soak cotton balls in warm coffee and rub under your eyelids to de-puff them. The caffeine "dehydrates and constricts blood vessels" to help reduce tired eye bags. Score.
5. It Soothes Inflamed Skin

Beyond coffee's brightening effects when used as an exfoliant, Dr. Amy Wechsler, M.D., told Huffington Post coffee beans can be ground down into a fine powder perfect for removing dry skin without adding irritation.
7. It Firms Skin
You should love your cellulite and rock that body positive attitude! But, if you just want to temporarily firm up anywhere, StyleCaster advises rubbing coffee grounds on your body while taking a shower. You'll notice tighter, more "awake looking" skin thanks to the caffeine boost you spread all over!
