In my opinion, no other characters in film or TV epitomize personal style quite like the four women in Sex And The City. Whether they were headed to brunch, Fashion Week, or a night out, they looked absolutely fabulous. In 2016, take these Carrie Bradshaw fashion quotes and run wild with them — they'll surely inspire you to start off the new year in serious style.

There are way too many iconic looks to list, but special shout out to, of course, Miss Bradshaw in her tutu in the opening credits. Pretty sure the theme song will be embedded in my head forever. Or, how about her gorgeous white slip dress when she saw Mr. Big after his wedding, and said "Your girl is lovely, Hubble," making us feel all the feels? Let's not leave out those gorgeous Manolos that get stolen when she takes them off for a baby shower.
The point is, costume designer Patricia Field absolutely killed it. Even in the Sex And The City movies (both 1 and 2), there were heaps of to-die-for looks. Most notably, her Vivienne Westwood wedding dress, and her gorgeous floral ensemble she wore to the auction. But perhaps equally as iconic on the show were her words of wisdom, whether she was talking about heartbreak, friendship, or learning to love oneself.
In honor of 2016 coming around the corner, here are Carrie Bradshaw's best fashion quotes to inspire your style resolution for the year.
1. On Shoes
"It's really hard to walk in a single woman's shoes. That's why we need really special ones now and then to make the walk a little more fun."
I'm with Carrie on this one — The more special the shoe, the more luck it brings us. In 2016, dare to go big. Think different fabrics, like velvet, and fun appliques, like hardware and fringe. Statement shoes are the new statement necklace.
2. On Wearing White
"I will never be the woman with the perfect hair who can wear white and not spill on it."
This coming year, focus on acceptance, acceptance, acceptance. Embrace your personal style, no matter how out there it is. There is no one trend or rule to follow, and if you spill on yourself, go with it! Personally, I think the messier the hair, the better.
3. On Myths
"Oh my God! Do you know what these are? Manolo Blahnik Mary Janes! I thought these were an urban shoe myth!"
In a sea of black coats and white tennis shoes, why not stand out? I'm guilty of following trends, too, but there's nothing like finding a special item that means so much to you. This year calls for thrifting and vintage shopping to find that one piece that you'll covet forever.
4. On Fashion Week
"Every year, the women of New York leave the past behind and look forward to the future...This is known as fashion week."
We all know the saying: New year, new you. Now's the time to clear out your closets and bust out those new pieces you've been dying to try. Remember: Fashion Week is every week.
5. On Financials
"I like my money where I can see it — hanging in my closet."
OK, so don't go spending your entire paycheck in your wardrobe. But the point is, invest in the pieces you know you'll love and have forever. Some staples (like an awesome leather bomber, or your favorite structured white button up) may cost you a few pretty pennies, but in the long run, they're totally worth it. This year, remember that quality greatly outweighs quantity.
6. On Dolce
"I couldn't understand a word she was saying, but I felt I had in my possession all the Italian I'd ever need to know: Dolce, Dolce, Dolce."
This year, immerse yourself in an education in fashion. Know your brands, and dare to explore! If you're strictly an LV type of girl, maybe branch out and check out A.P.C. You never know which other labels you'll love if you don't at least weigh your options. Bonus points if you learn how to pronounce Loewe.
7. On Friendship
"They say nothing lasts forever; dreams change, trends come and go, but friendships never go out of style."
This is perhaps the biggest lesson that Sex And The City has taught me. No matter what you're wearing, what brand you're rocking, what fabulous party you're at....The ultimate accessory to have with you is your friends. And, if they also happen to have a killer wardrobe, borrow from them!
8. On Knowing Your Limits
"I have a style and jewelled panties aren't it."
Know thy style. Though we're always down for trying something new, there's also some power in knowing what doesn't work for you. Once you've found it, allow yourself to mourn, but move on.
There's a reason Sex And The City continues to stand the test of time: Because there's so much truth in it. Sure, we may not be able to afford every single pair of shoes they own, or the lavish trips they take, or even weekly brunch at their favorite spot, but you can't deny that they've taught us some important lessons about individuality and what it means to grow up. In 2016, I'll be using some of my favorite Carrie-isms to guide my style game.
