Looking at all the glamourous photos on Instagram, and the influencers sharing their makeup tips and showcasing all the new products, we are all so tempted to follow their styles and aspire to look just as beautiful by following their tutorials. However, do take note that there are some makeup trends that look really beautiful on camera, but they can look totally horrifying when you see one on the streets.

This has to top the list. Can the internet stop trying to make this an in thing already? Tell me honestly, does anyone do clown contouring at all?
Piling so much makeup on your face isn't exactly great for your skin health. Furthermore, it creates a thick mask on your face and you can jolly well say goodbye to your dewy complexion and welcome all the cakiness. Next, it may look really easy to blend while the makeup gurus do their clown makeup tutorials on Youtube. But the lack of blending skills amongst us common folks is going to really make you look like a clown from the circus.

Following right after clown contouring is its lesser sibling, too much contouring.
We are not saying that contouring is evil. What we are saying is that it is sinful to overdose on it. Contouring is necessary to give your face more dimension and stronger contouring is needed for photoshoots. But when we are seeing streaks of browns and whites on your face while shopping in Orchard Road, girl you need to chill a little.
3. Too much foundation

Why apply only one layer when you can put on ten, right?
Foundation is use to even out your skin tone, and you shouldn't wear it like a mask. It may look fine in photos, but it can look really scary when you see a person with too much foundation on the streets.
When you put on too much foundation, it may seep into the fine lines on your face and exaggerate them even further, making you look much older than you are. Besides that, with the humid weather in Singapore, it is going to be only an hour or two before your foundation starts to streak and look cakey. Not pretty.
3. Sad eyebrows

It has been a while since the Korean straight eyebrows got really popular. We love the Korean style eyebrows as they look sweet and youthful on many ladies here, but things took a turn when eyebrows started looking more and more like Clara Bow's from the 1920s. The droopy eyebrows looked so sad. We are supposed to be happy! It's a brand new 2016 so do get your brows shaped by a professional!
4. Lion dance falsies

Ever seen the eyelashes on the lion from the lion dance troupe? If you haven't, keep your eyes open if you spot one in the upcoming Chinese New Year.
Thick, voluminous falsies that has got no empty space betwen individual strands ain't eyelashes. They looked more like a fan, and I've got a feeling they can hold up a dumbbell. Falsies that are too thick do not accentuate the eyes nor do they open up the eyes. It weighs down on your eyes making them look tired. The shadows casted on your eyes make your eyes look very dull too. And, very Ah-Lian-ish.
5. Unblended eyebrows

Eyebrows frame our faces. As much as it is a must to fill in our brows, please remember to blend them.
Boxy eyebrows that looked like they are stenciled in aren't flattering. We want our brows to look natural, not like they are taking all the attention away from our entire existence.
