A Hobby I Want to Brush Up in 2016 Herine

Listing down New Year’s resolutions has got to be the hardest thing ever because usually the year passed by so fast that when I look back at the goals I set, I’m worried I might feel ashamed at myself for not accomplishing all of it.

Hence, instead of flooding with a list, I shall just name 1 to keep it more achievable. Ever since the partner got me my first ukulele more than a year ago, I’ve been learning from youtube videos. We practised every weekend and we even did some amateurish covers HERE.

A few of my favourites are:

Try by Pink

蘇打綠-小情歌

恋爱-ING by 五月天

(ps: click on song names to check out the videos!)

I really spent so much time learning at that time! For “Try” because I couldn’t find a version that I really like, I went to play the song and find some notes to pluck as I strum. I think I can give myself a pat for my perseverance lol! ;-p

As we both love singing a lot, I thought this (playing ukulele) could jolly well be our life-long shared hobby (which is really awesome for a couple!) but alas, the partner lost her interest due to her 3-minutes heat because she gotta assign time to her coloring and gaming HAHAHA. Well, I’m not gonna give up even if there’s no more duet! Just the recent weekend, I’ve been strumming till my fingers almost bleed (Cues The Veronicas’ “You Ruin Me”: Cause you play me like a symphony~Play me till your fingers bleed~).

I’ve been thinking if I should enrol myself in a class and learn from scratch the correct techniques and chords. I think there are 2 kinds of chords reading but I am not sure. I can’t read the beansprouts kind (if you know what I mean), that’s why I feel I really need to learn the proper stuff and brush up whatever I’ve self-taught. IF ONLY I have a companion! Going to a music class alone is gonna be boring! Anyone?
