Confidence… Accepting My Body Flaws and Improving Them

Let’s just talk about my physical flaws first. I shall talk about my superabundance of character flaws in the next article. Which both, I would love to improve!

I grew up a confident girl under the TLC of my family and friends. As much as I am aware of my physical flaws, I wasn’t very affected by them, but all the while, I tried to improve on them… because I’m vain pot Xinyi. Oops.

Height

I’m a really petite one, standing at 1.53m, weighing 38kg. I’ve always been the first few in line when I was in school and because of that, I grew up being very aware of my “tinyness” and have always been comfortable in my own skin. In fact, I’m used to being to petite, and how nobody ever tried to get me to help them in physically challenging work. Hahaha…

But you know how there are very mean people out there who love to poke fun at other people’s height? As much as I’m comfortable with myself and to be teased by my friends at times, I would love to ask the INSECURE BITCHES TO GO AWAY. The occasional teasing is fine definitely, but to do it repeatedly and viciously, it is not. You settle your insecurities and not put down others to make yourself feel better.

And how do I retaliate? “Don’t get me started on your XXX (name ALL their flaws from top to toe)” Most will shut up immediately. Hehehehe…

I know, that’s really mean. But if you are not perfect and you are not Emma Watson or Angelababy, don’t try that. Nobody likes to be the butt of another’s jokes.

Eh… Talking about improving, nothing much can be done for this one. I'm a tiny shortie like that! Haha... Just stand “tall” and be confident!

Teeth

Before braces: March 2010
After braces: July 2013

Before braces: August 2010
After braces: April 2013

My mum always reminded me about my crooked teeth since the day they grew out crooked! Sigh… But that didn’t stop me from grinning from ear to ear in every photo like the Cheshire Cat! LOL

I decided to put on braces some years back and that was one of the best decisions that I’ve made. My protruding set of teeth was pushed inwards and front teeth were straightened. That changed so much of my jawline and looks my friends whom haven’t seen me for years thought I went for plastic surgery on my jaws. Didn’t!

Comparing my past teeth with my present set. I’m so glad I went for it!

Eczema

Plagued with eczema since young, I avoided shorts and mini skirts in my teenage days and I was self-conscious about my legs. The rough patches of eczema skin were unsightly and not to mention that they leave scars behind.

And just when having eczema on my body was bad, they started populating my cheeks in my university days. During one of my uni gatherings, one of my uni mates said that he remembered me as the girl with a lot of blusher. FML la, I did not put on makeup to worsen the skin. The redness was from my eczema!

Till today, I still can’t get rid of my eczema fully, but it has gotten so much better as compared to when I was a kid. These days, I tried to keep them at bay by keeping my skin clean and moisturized, and applying the cream my doctor gave me whenever I spot any flare ups.

Nose

I didn’t like my nose! I always think that my mum is at fault because she kept telling me my nose was ugly since I was young. Hahahaha… If you haven’t read my pre-surgery post on why I want to have a rhinoplasty, please do! http://blog.myfatpocket.com/xinzz/2015/02/04/jw-plastic-surgery-part-1-pre-surgery/.

I wanted a higher bridge and smaller nose. I tried nose fillers and although my nose bridge was enhanced, I couldn’t make it smaller. So I decided to go ahead with a nose surgery to get the nose I wanted when the opportunity came.

I shan’t elaborate too much on it since I’ve written a few lengthy and detailed posts on my nose plastic surgery already. Here they are for those who are interested:

**On a side note, I kept receiving emails with queries on my nose surgery. I’m more than happy to reply and help. But don’t email me on eyes and jawline surgery anymore, they are really untouched and natural and I got them from my mum. Apologies can’t be of much help on that!

The Most Beautiful Thing a Women Can Wear Is Confidence

There is always the conflict of the two school of thoughts where the first says that you should leave your body alone and feel confident no matter how you look; and the second says that you should improve yourself so that you will feel more confident. I definitely belong to the second camp. It's strange to me if I know I can improve on something but yet leave it alone. To me, enhancing my looks makes me feel happy and confident, and not that I wasn’t before!

With all that being said, it is important to understand yourself and feel good about yourself, to be confident to let your beauty shine through.

Love yourselves babes!
