Today we will be talking about educational-related stuffs and I am going to share with you my two cents worth. In this modern era, diploma/degree programs has been more accessible to people wanting to pursue further knowledge in something they’re interested in. I believe a number of you reading this are students and you should probably know the vast amount of programs offered by Universities all around Singapore. So what I will be sharing with you today is if given a choice, what subject would I choose to major in. Honestly, given the countless programs offered by each institute, it makes choosing a little tougher. (“Perhaps I should study this…maybe not because I like that more…or the other one?”) That will probably be me standing at the university reception counter.
All in all, I would say my ultimate choice would be Psychology.
• If I study Psychology, the world will probably appear to me much differently. I’ve always wonder why some people are behaving in a certain way, with knowledge in Psychology it could help me comprehend the reason behind these behaviors which can be really cool. It improves your ability to deal with people struggling through emotional hardship and empathize with people.
• Self-understanding, I can have understanding of different psychological emotions and principles. With that knowledge I can develop a better approach to respond to undesirable negative emotions that alleviates emotional pain.
• Better manage in difficult situations or highly-stress environment. The skills I acquire throughout the study of Psychology can assist me in dealing with unwanted situations much better as I relatively can understand how a person is likely to respond to the situation and the response that follows after that. It makes you more adept at solving difficult situations. (conflicts, argument etc)
See the perks of studying Psychology? I mean, I feel that the things I learn will be very applicable and resourceful to my daily life. But of course, there’s still a lot more subjects out there that piqued my interest (Biochemistry, Medical Sciences and Law). However if I had to choose, I’ll pick Psychology. But most importantly, pick one that you like! Something you’ll enjoy learning and does not feel like a chore.
To everyone out there pursuing studies, study hard and good luck! I will be rooting for you ~
