To fight against counterfeits, Salvatore Ferragamo is upping its game by inserting microchips into the heels of its shoes and lining of some bags.
Not only will it protect consumers, it will also deter fakes from surfacing in the market. Just last year alone, Salvatore Ferragamo confiscated a total of 12,400 illegal items with a total value of around 17 million.
Furthermore, for those who love to sell off their shoes and bags on Carousell, you can be guaranteed of the resale value since it can be easily verified to be authentic Ferragamo items.
Concerns about privacy issues that comes with the microchipping of products were addressed. The fashion house shared that the chip can only be read at a close distance of 4cm and it cannot be tracked.
