Many people seek perfection in life but what is truly perfect? Many attempt and struggle in their daily life to achieve that so they are able to be perceive as “perfect” by others. Sure, you can do things you think that makes you into a better person but don’t be obsessed to the extent you are becoming someone else. Take a minute to think about the unpleasant things that enter your thoughts when you feel that you believe there’s something very terribly wrong with your personality, looks or competence etc. You met someone who is more attractive, someone who is doing better or more successful than you or some things that make you feel inferior. The overwhelming feeling of incompetency and inadequacy overflowing your head. Now do you see? Unknowingly letting these negativity cause a huge impact on your lifestyle. I have experienced these feelings before…these unpleasant feelings which can be really toxic for someone who does not know how to deal with it or have yet to be enlightened. Now what do you mean by enlightened? I once met a wise woman who told me this “Life will never be close enough to perfect, we’re all flawed…each and every one of us. If you try to compare yourself to everyone, the competition will be limitless. Instead, dismiss that idea of achieving perfect. You, yourself are the one that decides what perfection truly is. Take a good hard look at yourself, your changes should be what make you into a better person…not another person.”

I am not sure if this phrase I’ve once heard is enlightening for you but it sure gives me a new perspective of life. From that day on, one step at a time (not immediately of course) I start to learn how to accept my imperfect personality, habit and mistakes etc. I’ve come to understand that human flaws are a natural part of one’s life and that’s why you probably either see or hear this phrase “learn to love yourself”.

Most importantly, I hope with my experience can give some understanding to anyone who are dealing with the similar issues I once had. Remember, stop having those negative ideas and change them into thoughts of self-love and acceptance!
