Stakes are always high for the annual gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in downtown New York City, an event presided over by Costume Institute co-chair and Vogue editor Anna Wintour.
The “Play” songstress was the first and only Taiwan celebrity invited to the event and Tsai didn’t disappoint, giving her interpretation of the night’s theme “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology” in a sheer glittering Marc Jacobs gown.

Tsai paired the sequinned garment from the American designer’s 2016 Fall/Winter collection with a retro chic bob and dark lips.
The dress was recently worn by Taylor Swift in a photo shoot for Vogue magazine’s May issue.
The Taiwan starlet made no secret of her case of nerves over attending the international event, taking to Facebook after the gala to thank veteran celeb Bette Midler for her warmth and encouragement.
In the post, Tsai also seemed to lament the fact that actor Leonardo DiCaprio was not in attendance, with a hashtag using a popular Chinese nickname for the “Revenant” star.
