If you are a lover of Japanese culture, or if you simply love Japanese food and games, I am sure you would have visited The Super Japan Matsuri that was held last weekend, at The Esplanade, Theatres on the Bay.
For the ladies, the best part about visiting a matsuri would be dressing up for it. So many of my friends went for The Super Japan Matsuri just because they wanted to wear the yukatas that they bought on their previous trips to Japan. There is no better time for us to don a yukata other than a matsuri, because we don't have this all year round isn't it!
If you are wondering where you can purchase a pretty piece of yukata in Singapore, you will be happy to know that your very friendly Uniqlo carries a range of yukatas with beautiful designs. We always head to Uniqlo to shop for our basics and their famous HEATTECHs. Little did we know that we can find Japanese yukatas at Uniqlo without a need to fly in one from Japan.
The Super Japan Matsuri was so packed last Saturday that we gave up trying to queue for food and games. But nothing was going to dampen our mood as we took a leisurely stroll by the bay, looking at all the beautiful ladies strolling around in their yukatas. And how can a Japanese festival be complete without cosplayers gracing the scene?
It wasn't exactly easy trying to put on my yukata before I head out. I was glad that Uniqlo has got 2 videos (1,2) with step-by-step instructions to guide us through the process. I think I did a pretty decent job at it, though I had to rope in my husband to help me a little. Oops.
We had to tie that Obi sash from scratch too. I thought that I did quite a good job at doing up the ribbon on the obi sash. Tell me you agree with that too.
Don't worry if you missed the recent Super Japan Matsuri. The yearly Natsu Matsuri (Summer Festival) that is organized by The Japanese Association will take place on 20th August 2016, at Japanese School (Changi Campus). You may want to start getting your yukatas ready for that.
