Use Sunblock with a SPF of 30 or higher
Broad spectrum Sunblocks protect against both UVA and UVB rays. Sun lovers who love tanning can cause sun burn and cancer if the skin is not protected against UVA and UVB.
Therefore, it is important to choose a sunblock with SPF 30 or higher to protect the skin from skin cancer. It is advisable to look for Sunblocks that contain Zinc Oxide and Titanium oxide as they are physical blockers that prevent ultraviolet rays from penetrating the skin. Make sure your sunblock gives you sufficient protection!
Apply Sunblock before you go into the sun.
Sunblock needs time to be absorbed into the skin in order to work, so apply it 20-30 minutes before you head out! This gives the sunscreen enough time to be absorbed into your skin and offer you ultimate protection. Apply it generously on your ears, neck, hands, legs, and feet.
Be sure to reapply sun block often
Reapply sunblock once every hour if you are out for a swim or doing outdoor activities that cause you to perspire. Water breaks down the protection of sun block which makes it less effective even if the label says it's waterproof.
Wear sun glasses, hats and umbrellas
Wear UV sunglasses to protect your eyes and hat/caps to protect your scalp. Avoid 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. sun as that’s when the sun’s harmful UV rays are the strongest. Office ladies going for lunch may also consider using an umbrella for shade.
