I have a thing for fitness and I am stubborn. If I have a body goal to achieve, I can be even more disciplined than any other thing. Ever since I picked up exercising again, I fell in love with burning calories and STRESS together at the same time. I told myself, I should never let myself get flabby again because each time I “expanded”, each time it is tougher to shed it off because of age and hormonal issues. I used to be able to build arm muscles much easier than other parts of the body and it was until last year that I decided I want to have more than just a perky butt.
In short, I was mildly obsessed with muscles. Yet at the same time, I had to remind myself that I do not need to overdo it because I am short afterall. I need to be proportionate, and maybe just that slightly more muscular than the typical petite girl I was? ;-)
The 3 reasons I have for being active:
1. Healthier lifestyle, healthier me
2. Fit body, fit mind, fit emotions
3. Being Strong (not just mentally)
I blogged about “How I lost Lost 10kg & 2 sizes” a few years back. Some of my methods can be a little too extreme and hard to follow for some, but trust me; it felt so good when I saw the changes my body had!
Honestly speaking, working towards it can be very challenging. 1 excuse a week can result in a tremendous reduction of the workout frequencies overall! Hence, I like to plan ahead my week because if I don’t, I can easily be consumed by work, blogging, housework, meeting friends and 101 other reasons.
• Exercise at least 3 times a week
• 1 day cardio, 1 day abs, 1 day strength training
Another way to keep working out is to find a keep-fit buddy so that you can motivate each other and plan more fun outdoors workouts together. For now, I’m pretty much on my own so I tend to do more indoor exercises.
If my company has some sort of gatherings, I will also try to suggest and get them to plan around not just a meal but some physical activity too. Example: We had teppanyaki grill pit booked at my boss’ condo, my colleagues and I will also be in our sportsgear so that we can go for a quick gym session too!
It is not hard to stay fit, but it sure is easy to be lazy. If anyone is interested in starting a mini gym ‘gang’, please consider me too! ;-)
