One of the woes that comes with having sensitive skin is not being able to try a myriad of products as you'd like to for fear of aggravation. This includes skincare products, makeup and even sunscreen. I, for one, am particularly skeptical of everything I apply on my skin, and yes, I do go to great lengths to decipher the ingredient list printed on every product I consider purchasing.
The same goes for facial treatments as well. The last time I'd gone for one was way back in my Secondary School days – you’re looking at about eight years ago. And back then I wasn't the most knowledgeable in handling my skin condition.
I was offered a chance to try EHA Skincare's Hydrafacial after my long facial hiatus. It's been a long time coming for sure, and as much as I'd love to pamper my skin once again, I took precautions to ensure that the treatment was absolutely suitable for my sensitive skin. I had advised the clinic about my skin concerns (sensitivity, enlarged pores and facial redness) prior to my visit so the treatment could be specially tailored to meet my needs.
To further understand the profile of my skin, I underwent a VISIA scan for a detailed analysis e.g. dark spots, collagen, fine lines and pores. I’d be lying if I told you I wasn’t a tad startled upon seeing the visual results. Lesson learnt: never forget your sunscreen, guys!
I proceeded with the Hydrafacial thereafter. The Hydrafacial removes dead skin cells and impurities while simultaneously bathing the new skin with cleansing, hydrating and moisturising serums. The treatment’s moisturising ability sets it apart from other skin resurfacing procedures. It is also soothing, refreshing, non-irritating and immediately effective.
The highlight of the treatment is the Hydra Solution which simultaneously interacts its three components: nutrient-rich active serums which cleanses and nourishes the skin, while the patented disposable HydroPeelTM tips apply serums. The recessed multiple spiral planning surfaces of the machine scrape up the dead cells and impurities while the vacuum system delivers the serums, stimulates the production of collagen and swirls away dead cells and impurities without any discomfort. It is also customisable according to your skin type.
Indeed, I was glad it met its promises of being soothing, refreshing and non-irritating, which meant that it could deliver its skin-loving properties whilst being gentle on my skin.
The PDT Light (Photodynamic Therapy) followed. It’s a light source promoting skin rejuvenation for acne scar treatment, anti-aging treatment, rosacea treatment and more. This can be accomplished through either Blue light therapy or Red light therapy. I underwent the Blue light therapy to address my acne scars and facial redness.
After a relaxing and refreshing massage and treatment mask, I was very pleased to emerge with significantly clean and rejuvenated skin.

But it doesn’t stop here – in order to reap the full benefits of your facial, it’s necessary to have in place a solid skincare regime that is suitable for both Asian skin and Singapore’s humid climate. I was recommended some of EHA Skincare’s products: Hydra pH Cleansing Gel, Toner, Moisturising Gel and Sunshield 24hr.
Hydra pH Cleansing Gel
It helps to protect the skin’s natural lipid barrier by maintaining the skin pH level at a healthy 5.5 whilst removing impurities and also hydrating the skin for brighter and dewy complexion.
Moisturising Gel
Infused with powerhouse ingredients such as Evening Primrose extract, seaweed extract, plant collagen and protein, silicon and Titanium Dioxide, this non-greasy gel-based lotion forms a protective barrier that locks in moisture and nutrients so your skin stays hydrated for longer.
Sunshield 24hr
Proven to block both UV-A and UV-B rays by 99% for a period of 24 hours, EHA’s Sunshield 24hr is non-greasy and lightly tinted to lend your skin a natural look. Its protecting ingredient also prevents spot generation, keeps the skin cool and resistant against sunburn. Sunshield 24hr also works as a foundation base before make-up application.
So to all of you who have steered far away from facials, it’s imperative that you find a clinic which helps you understand your skin better and recommends only the most suitable solution for your concerns. Book a consultation with EHA Skincare to seek the professional opinion with a trusted and knowledgeable skin care therapist and embrace healthy-looking skin once again.
