Most pharmacies sell false eyelashes for less than ten dollars, but one brand seems to market theirs for consumers that have more money than they know what to do with. Available exclusively at Barneys, Kre-At's shimmering gold false eyelashes will set you back a whopping $295.
The lashes, described on the website as 'luxury meets art', are made of hand-foiled 24 Karat gold.
The department store recently took to Twitter to announce that the beauty product is trendy for the summer season. 'We might have been inspired by . . . the sunset during this past weekend's summer solstice,' Barneys tweeted on Friday.
'Whatever the reason, we are feeling gold right now in a big way,' added the post, which also featured a jacket, skirt, sandals and other fashion items in gold. If spending nearly $300 on a set of false lashes is not your idea of a productive shopping spree, StyleBistro recommends making your own pair for a fraction of the price.
'A whole booklet of 24-carat gold leaf costs about $60 on most jewelry-making sites,' says the website.
'And a plain pair of Kre-At lashes runs about $16. Just saying!'
