It is already 8 months into 2016, and we are soon bidding the summer trends goodbye and saying hello to all the upcoming fall and winter collections. What should we be expecting next season?

We take you through on the colours you need, and how you can create fresh new looks for the next few months.

1. Blue

Blue eyeshadow is big in 2016 and it seems like the trend will carry through to the end of the year.

Update the Spring/Summer blue with a metallic texture, or you may want to add some shimmery silver eyedust at the inner corners of your eyes to open them up. Perfect for a night out when used on the entire eyelid. If not, just add a touch of blue near your upper lash line like an eyeliner, for a pop of colour. Keep your base makeup clean and minimal since this makeup is focused on the eyes.

Make Up Store Glow Compact Powder.
A lightweight powder formula with a shimmering finish that helps to smoothens fine lines and pores.

2. Neutrals

Gender blur is a huge term on the fashion runways and it has definitely spilt over to the beauty industry. Androgynous makeup is inspired by the natural beauty of a woman, with the attitude of a tomboy.

Minimalism meets sharp structure. Feminine meets masculine. It is a modern look fit enough for the #girlboss. Use darker shades of matte browns to create depth, and lighter shades at the inner corners of the eyes to open them up. Let the focus be on the lash line by adding a dark, yet soft eyeliner. With this look, create stronger cheekbones and enhance the bone structure with contouring. However, always remember not to overdo it!

3. Pink

Pink is a colour you can never go wrong with. It brightens up your complexion immediately and brings out that inner girl in us.

This look is inspired by a ballerina with a fun and playful energy. Bring out your inner artist by using dusty pink instead of pastel sweet pinks, and add on some berry colour onto your lips. Don't be afraid to use metallic highlights on your cheekbones, lips, eyes and nose.

4. Colours!

Don't hold back when it is time to go bold! There are no rules and limits when it comes to makeup because it is a form of self-expression. Have fun, be extravagant and daring, be playful. Show them that colours are nothing to be afraid of.

You may want to have one wash of colour all over your eyelid, or blend 2 to 3 complimentary shades together. Don't be afraid to line your lower lash line with a louder colour instead of the usual black. The key here is to have lots of fun. However, If you prefer a more toned down look for work or an afternoon date, you can keep to one or two colours and just use them as an eyeliner.
