Sometimes we just want to be all demure and pure, and other days we can’t help but behave in an uncanny manner. That’s why, Asahi chose to unleash the evil twin of their regular lager – Asahi Super Dry Black Lager to complement our mood swings.

Asahi Super Dry Black Lager

Despite inheriting the same yeast strain (No. 318) as its golden Asahi Super Dry brother, this black version is unlike any other. It boosts a mildly vanilla flavour, with a nutty-sweet palate and a dry, rounded finish that does not leave a bitter aftertaste.

The deeper, darker flavour from roasted malt and crispness from the addition of rice and corn makes the dark lager smooth and sessionable, thus allowing drinkers to enjoy several glasses without feeling full.

Available at 7-Eleven

The dark rendition is only exclusively available at 7-Eleven. Head over to the nearest store if you can’t resist the dark side. Each can (350ml) retails at SGD 4.80 (subject to GST and prevailing in store promotions).

Do Not Let the Lager Go to Waste

Thanks to Asahi Breweries, we managed to learn these 5 tips to avoid ruining our lagers.

Drink the Beer While It is Fresh

The freshness of the beer is compromised as time passes. Thus, it's desirable to consume it as early as possible within the best by period.

Keep Your Glass Clean

Always use a clean and dry glass for your beer. If beer is poured into an unclean glass, the separation of carbonic gas will occur at the stained area, and thus impair the aroma and flavour.

Keep the Beer Moderately Chilled

Ideally, the beer should be consumed at a temperature of 6 to 8 degress celcius. Remember to chill the glass as well for a better experience.

Store it Right

Store the beer in a cool place, away from direct sunlight. If bottled or canned beer is stored in a freezer or a car trunk, the beer could become turbd. Moreover, the can and glass could explode.

Pour with Care

On contact with the air, oxidation will cause the beer to go stale. The foam head prevents the oxidation. When pouring beer into glass, one should take extra care to create a fine foam in order to maintain the taste.

1) Put the glass on the table, pour the beer in the middle of the glass from a relatively high position. Stop poring when the foam has filled 1/3 of the glass

2) Tilt the glass, and slowly pour the beer so that it flows into beneath the foam

3) Gradually return the glass to the upright position and pour the beer in such a way that the foam rises

4) Put the glass on the table when the glass has been 80% filled. Make adjustments so that the foam occupies 20 to 30% of the glass
