Who says Halloween needs to be all about the scare? I’m here to show you how I adopted the ‘cute’ approach this year – transforming my face into one of a deer we all know. Bambi.
I guess my visuals are self-explanatory but I’ll just take the chance to share with you girls my makeup essentials and how I went about creating this particular look! None of these makeup products were sponsored so you know for sure that they are authentically amazing to me.
Step One: Base
My personal preference is for my skin to look as dewy and radiant as possible. I never wear foundation or powder so all I use is this BB Cushion from Laneige in Natural Beige. I’ve been using this product for a couple years already and it has been a definite holy grail item in my makeup pouch. But these days, you can find much cheaper alternatives at brands like The Face Shop & Innisfree. They offer the same coverage at a cheaper price so I guess I’ll be switching over soon.
Step Two: Eyeshadow & Liner
Urban Decay can take all my money. Their Naked 3 Palette is something I cannot live without. I always have one of these shades on my lids when I have makeup on, just so my eyelids have a subtle rosiness to them. In this look I used the shades ‘Strange’, ‘Burnout’, ‘Nooner’ and ‘Darkside’. Using Sigma’s Gel Liner in Brown, I swept on a simple cat-eye to further enhance my eyes.
Step Three: Contour & Brows
I recently purchased the it Cosmetics Contouring Palette and am absolutely floored by how pigmented the product is and how much can be picked up on my makeup brush with just one dab. I shaded in the hollows of my cheeks, up onto my forehead and down my nose bridge. As for brows, Benefit does it best. I use their Brow Zings Kit in Number 3 and am a die-hard fan of the brand for anything brow related. I made sure the inner corners of my brows were fluffier than usual to create a rougher and natural look. I doubt deers have brow maintenance kits so LOL #keepinitreal
Step Four: Deer Features
With normal Body Art Paint I bought from Art Friend last year, I used a brush to apply it along my lower lash line to create the illusion of larger eyes. I later used the same Sigma Gel Liner to draw on fake lower lashes to achieve the signature doe-eyed look.
Step Five: Highlight
Back to Urban Decay (told you I’m hooked), the Illuminated kit is divine. The shimmer just glides on and stays on my face for the entire day – often transferring onto my boyfriend’s face HAHA but never runs out. Dusted this all over my cheeks and forehead!
So then YAY! You should now look like a deer! If you don’t, you probably didn’t pay much attention to my tutorial at all LOL I kid.
I hope this was insightful and hopefully you’ll be inspired to recreate this look for yourself on Halloween. And I know you’re probably wondering where that beautiful bouquet of flowers I included in the photos above are from so here’s a big thank you shout-out to Rachel from @abetterflorist for delivering them in time to beautify my nature-themed Halloween post. Go check them out cos they seriously have a knack at piecing together wonderful floral combinations.
Happy Halloween in advance!
Love,
Christy
