[Blogger Yingjie] Tips for Visiting Halloween Horror Nights at USS

It is October again and Halloween is on 31 October if you don’t know! In Singapore, we don’t celebrate Halloween as much as some other countries, but one of the more prominent Halloween attraction/event will be the Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) at Universal Studios Singapore (USS). I have visited HHN a couple of years back, and I will be visiting HHN this year again. *excited*

Here are some tips for those who will be going to USS for HHN 6. (Disclaimer: I only visited HHN once so… just sharing what I think will be useful!)

1. Express pass

If you hate queueing and don’t mind spending more to queue for a shorter time, the express pass will be perfect for you. The price ranges from $90 to $140 on top of your admission ticket price, depending on your date of visit. Yes, it costs more than your ticket price, and almost 3 times the ticket price on some days; I guess I will just stick with the normal queue and have a nice supper with the money haha.

2) What to wear

As you will be spending most of your time standing and queueing (mostly outdoors), do wear comfortable and light clothing as well as comfortable walking shoes.

3) Reach early

There will be lots of people, and they will all be queueing outside USS even before the gates are open. It opens at 7pm, so you know what to do…

4) Plan

This is not a must, but it will be good to take a look at the map beforehand and decide on which haunted house you want to visit first. As the waiting times are uncertain, what you can do is to plan the order of the houses you will visit, and maybe prioritise those that you are more interested in. Also, take note that the shows have fixed timings~

5) Run (if you can)

What we did during our previous visit was to start running once the opening show ends. Many people will do that, so don’t worry if you will be seen as kiasu haha!

6) Things to bring

Some things that you might want to consider bringing will be water (or you can buy overpriced evian from the drink stalls), light sticks (for fun), cash (the drink/snack stalls only accept cash if I am not wrong) and umbrella (in case it rains when you are at the outdoor queue).

7) Pokemon?

If you play Pokemon Go, you might want to bring your powerbank along haha! USS is known to have rare Pokemon sightings once in a while, you can play Pokemon Go as you queue! :P

Can’t wait to go to HHN, happy Halloween everyone! :D
