I have been counting calories for years. I won’t call myself a pro but I roughly know how much calories I am consuming every day. 1250 is a goal I set for myself. I eat more when I work out but on days I don’t, I set it at 1250. I think I am a little obsessed with calories but I don’t really see this as a bad thing because it helps me to maintain my weight and control my food intake.
Honestly I think this is better than the old me where I am obsessed with the numbers on the scale. At least I am eating a balanced diet now instead of just vegetables previously. I remembered counting every step I took too because I want to make sure that I hit 10,000 steps every day. Funny why I never used a pedometer then, it made my life so much easier.
So yes I do think my obsession now is pretty acceptable because I am not the only one in this world who counts calories. I am sure there are many who are doing this too.

I do get paranoid when I exceeded what I set for myself. But I don’t feel that bad because I know there is always another day for me to exercise and eat healthier. I always prepare myself before I attend food tasting or celebrations too, like having salad during the day and for the next 2 days.
I have people asking how I actually count calories because they really don’t know how much calories they are consuming, and my answer is always the same, go and consult Google. The more you ask google the more you will know how much you are eating. I spent years googling about food and calories which explains why I know how much I am eating.
Counting calories may seem like an easy affair but it is not. There are a lot more things to think of, for example the amount of sugar, salt and fat. Well in case you’re wondering I haven’t reached that stage yet. Judging from how much snacks I am still eating, I really don’t want to talk about the breakdown. Lol.
Of course if you eat 1200 calories worth of chocolates everyday it doesn’t help too. Counting calories and eating well has to go hand in hand. This is how people lose the weight and keep it off. Don’t forget about exercising too.
If you ask me which is more important, calorie counting or exercise? I would say calorie counting. But my best choice would still be the combination of the two. :) And so what about you? Which one do you think is more important to you?
