Tell us more about yourself...
I love photography but surprisingly, I did not start with food photography. I used to go around Singapore with a DSLR camera and a tripod taking landscape photos. Running is also a huge part of my life too. I started running in 2008 but I couldn't even complete 2km back then. But now, I have already completed 13 full 42km marathons!
You started food blogging because...
I was introduced to Instagram 3 years back and I tried to post some landscape photos that I took. However, Instagram only allowed square photos back then, and my landscape photos didn't work quite well on it. I started browsing through food-related photos on Instagram and decided to post some of them, and to my surprise, the response to those photos turned out pretty well. That motivated me to focus more on food photography. Since then, I started to hunt for new cafes and restaurants and now, it is a must for my camera eat first before I do.
Your list of 5 favorite food in Singapore...
1. Singapore Chicken Rice
This classic dish is not only well-loved by Singaporeans, but it is also a must try for many overseas visitors whenever they visit. The fragrance of the rice, the smooth and tender chicken combined with the chilli and garlic sauce dip makes it a perfect dish. Wee Nam Kee Chicken Rice is one of my favorite chicken rice stall and it is located at Marina Square, #04-102B, Singapore 039594
2. Singapore Laska
Spicy coconut gravy with prawn, fishcakes, and cockles. My favorite Laksa place is 328 Katong Laksa at 51 East Coast Road, Singapore 428770.
3. Bak Kut Teh
My all time favourite is Founder Bak Kut Teh that is located at 347 Balestier Road, Singapore 329777. Their pork ribs are so soft and tender and the intense garlic peppery soup is so good that I will ask for refills repeatedly.
4. Sashimi
It is of utmost importance for sashimi to be fresh. And fresh, premium sashimi can be rather costly so I would definitely recommend buffets if you want to have good sashimi at good pricing.
I love Hokkaido Sushi, which is located at level 9 of M Hotel. At $43++ for dinner buffet, you get to enjoy unlimited sashimi and their sashimi is air-flown directly from Japan twice a week.
5. Waffles with Ice-cream
There is always room for dessert and my favourite dessert is always waffles with ice-cream. Not many cafes are good with both waffles and ice-cream but the perfect one would be Creamier at Gillman Barracks, 5 Lock Road. Their waffles are one of the best and I love to pair it with my favorite Pistachio Ice Cream. All the goodness in one!
