One of the few ladies that are with Home United Football Club, we interview Cheryl Allison, or more affectionately known as "Cherzinga", to find out more about her training at Home United Football Club and her daily fitness routine (we need those tips to get that flat tummy). Read on to find out more about Cheryl, and we didn't forget to help you ask her how she takes those beautiful photos for her Instagram feed too!
1. How did the name “Cherzinga” come about?
There's no particular story actually. I just wanted to incorporate my name 'Cheryl' into my username to create a unique and memorable identity. So I just used Cher and put in a random sound that came into my head It caught on really well, so well that no one knows me by Cheryl anymore and I have to introduce myself as "Cherzinga".
2. You are one of the rare few ladies that are with Home United FC. What makes you decide to join HUFC?
I've been playing soccer since young with my childhood friends and it carried on to joining soccer in secondary school and I eventually DSA-ed into Victoria JC. But I also played street soccer outside. Once I graduated, I just felt that my life was incomplete without soccer practice. Just at that time my JC coach introduced me to HUFC so I decided to join the club.
3. How is a typical day of training like?
It's tiring definitely, but that's the fun in it: knowing that you're improving and learning new things every training session. Being surrounded by supportive teammates makes training fun as well. We do ball work, gameplay, followed by fitness training every session.
4. Besides the training at Home United FC, do you have your own workout routines that you stick to?
I'm not one who gyms at all (yes I'm a gym noob) or have regular routines. But I do DOTA a lot. So whenever I die (usually for about a minute), I do push ups or sit ups to help me pass time haha. And occasionally, when I feel motivated after looking at fitsporation, I'll take out my yoga mat to do cardio exercises such as Tabatha. And of course, I do leisure soccer with my boyfriend and friends too.
5. And we know that keeping fit isn’t just about exercising. Are you particular about your diet?
I'm not very particular about my diet, in fact, I eat loads of sweet stuff. But I offset it with tons of running during soccer. I also do take coffee from Skinny Coffee Club on a daily basis which helps with my metabolism.
6. Ladies always finds it hard to maintain a flat tummy. Any tips for our readers to have a achieve #bodygoals like yours?
I know my diet ain't good but I run A LOT. So if you're lazy to run, I suggest a healthy low-sugar diet and cardio workouts.
7. We love your Instagram feed. How do you decide what goes on it?
I actually have a separate private Instagram account where plan my feed first. Everything that goes on my public Instagram goes through that first! Of course, there's an app for that but I find this more convenient.
8. What are your favourite photo editing apps for Instagram and how do you edit your photos?
VCSO and Picsart. I use Picsart for fine tuning lighting (or photoshopping away unwanted background objects) and VSCO for filters and colour corrections.
9. Any Instagram photography tips for our readers?
(For the one in front of the camera) Always face the light source for good lighting, have one foot in front of the other, keep moving around, and do your tip toe.
(For the one behind the camera) Tell him/her to get low if you want to look taller, and also, iPhone burst shots ftw.
