I have always taken pride in my appearance, but as i got older, problems that were non existent like dark eye circles, eye bags, dullness started to creep up on me.

I visited Halley Medical Aesthetics to see what they could do for me. During my consultation with Dr. Terence Tan, I was immediately at ease with him. Not only is he friendly and knowledgable, he made sure he attended to all my concerns and questions. As you can see from the candid shot below, talking to him was really enjoyable!

My biggest problem that i have with my face is that i look constantly tired. Not because i did not have enough sleep or that i am feeling tired but the dark eye circles and eye bag is always there no matter how much sleep i get! Another problem that i have is my fat face. It isn't very obvious in real life but in photos, i tend to look a little chubby. To tackle these 2 issues. I was advised by Dr. Tan to treat the first problem by combining both Fraxel Dual Laser eye treatment with Juverderm Volift filler in the mid-cheeks area, which will make me look more youthful and less tired by reducing the appearance of the dark eye circles and eye bags.

How this combined treatment works is that the filler will revolumise the under eye area, which is sunken in due to natural volume loss around the area as we age, while the Fraxel Dual Laser will improve the skin texture and tighten the surface of the skin. For the second issue, he recommended Botox on the jaw area to combat the dreaded fat face by slimming down my jawline. He also suggested filler for my chin to make my profile more photogenic and attractive. But we will only do the filler treatment on the second visit as Dr Tan wanted the Fraxel Dual Laser to get my skin to kick start its own collagen-making process first before he inserts the filler.

Let me share my experiences of my Botox jaw slimming and Fraxel Dual Laser eye treatment though a Q&A format:

Q&A : All about Botox!

Did the Botox injection Hurt?

The Botox injection was over before i knew it! Seriously, on a scale of 1-10 on how painful the injection is, i would rate it a 0. I didn't even feel a thing throughout the entire process and only got to know that it is done when the doctor told me so.

Are the results immediate?

Results from Botox are not immediate but you would start to see results in about 2 weeks with the full slimming effect showing in about 3 months.

Any downtime I should know?

I have gotten Botox done twice now and both times there wasn't any downtime Can't wait to show you my final results!

How long will the results last?

Duration depends on individual results but on average it should last about 8 months in my personal experience

Q&A : Fraxel Dual Laser

Did it hurt?

Numbing cream will be applied prior to treatment so that would help a lot in easing your discomfort during the treatment. on a scale of 1-10. It was about a 4 for me. During treatment, Dr Tan also used the Zimmer Cryo Cooling device to provide a constant stream of cooling air to cool and provide comfort on my face. I would say the overall experience was generally tolerable.

Are the results immediate?

i could see the full results in about a week! Under eye and mid cheek area felt lifted and there was an undeniable glow to the region that i had my Fraxel Laser done.

Any downtime I should know?

You will experience some slight redness after the treatment. Nothing alarming, just very much like as if you were sunburnt. After a couple days, you will also experience some skin peeling. But all these will resolve in about three days, and you can still go about your daily activities during this time. This is an improvement from the traditional fractional CO2 laser, which is also a resurfacing laser like the Fraxel laser. But there would be many dark dots on the skin after the CO2 laser treatment and the downtime is five to seven days. My advice is to avoid doing this treatment if you have any major events over the next few days.

How long will the results last?

You need three treatments, each done a month apart, to begin then followed by one refresher treatment done once every six months or a year. With this regime, Fraxel results are indefinite but having a good skincare regime is essential in maintaining the results! I will be posting before and after pictures in my upcoming post so keep a lookout for it!
