I always find women who managed to look stylish in the sweltering heat a mystery. I mean, how do they do that? All I want to put on is a singlet and a pair of shorts, and my favourite pair of flip flops.

As much as that is our desired outfit for the hot and humid Singapore weather, our inner fashion girl is saying a big no no, well, unless you are heading to the beach, or just going to the Kopitiam to grab your lunch. What's the secret to looking cool and feeling cool at the same time? These 6 styling hacks will help you look stylish and yet avoid being the next sweaty disaster.

1. Say no to padded bras

Sweaty boobs aren't exactly the best feeling on earth so why bother with covering your boobs with an inch of padding? Go lightweight with your bras and opt for bralettes instead. Perk by Kate offers some really pretty and comfortable bralettes for you to choose from.

2. Wear lighter colours

Keep your all black ensembles to days when the skies are cloudy. Darker colours absorb heat while lighter colours reflect heat to keep us cool. Although black is the ultimate choice of colour to look cool, nothing pops an outfit more than bright colours, isn't it?

Besides white, opt for millenial pink, bright yellows and blues this season. If you prefer a sweeter colour palette, pastels will never go wrong.

3. Go for looser fits

You don't have to go body hugging to be sexy. Loose fit clothing does not stick to your body and is less uncomfortable in the heat. Go for a Korean look with v-neck shirts that are trending this season, or head back to the '80s with oversize tees.

4. Bare your shoulders

Off-shoulders are big since 2016 and it looks like they are here to stay. The perfect piece to up your style factor yet stay cool in the all-year summer heat.

5. Ditch skinny jeans

If you are a denim girl, go ahead and wear those jeans, but you may want to put skinnies aside for the hot hot days. Go for looser cuts like boyfriend jeans, mum jeans, or even cropped flares. Anyway, they are making a comeback and taking over the skinnies that ruled the fashion world for the past ten years.

6. Accessorise with earrings

Instead of having necklaces and arm candies that stick close to your skin and causing discomfort and heat rash in the heat, accessorise with statement earrings this 2017 instead.
