I’ve been thinking about getting nose fillers and jaw slimming done for a long time and, I finally found the courage to do it!
Frankly speaking, I am very open-minded when it comes to aesthetic enhancements. I’ve been thinking about getting plastic surgery done to change my facial features but I’m too scared to do it because plastic surgery is irreversible. Besides, I’m not exactly keen on having drastic changes on my facial features and I don’t really want people to notice that I went for plastic surgery.
Therefore, I was really glad to know that I can enhance my facial features even without going under the knife, with fillers and botox, although the effects aren’t permanent.
Filler Liquid Lift and Facial Sculpting, on the other hand, are aesthetic treatments that are reversible, there is almost no downtime. The end result looks really natural, which means that I will still look like myself, but definitely a better version!
I am grateful that Radium Medical Aesthetics offered to help me achieve the desired look with Filler Liquid Lift and Facial Sculpting.
Radium Medical Aesthetics is conveniently located at Suntec City Mall and it is easily accessible. The clinic has a professional and clean outlook that allows patients to feel comfortable. The warm lighting and the cosy interior set up at the clinic helped me relax too.
Before they start the procedure, Dr Siew Tuck Wah, Medical Director from Radium Medical Aesthetics carried out a consultation with me to understand my concerns and analysed my facial contours. He also explained the details of the procedure, including any potential risks.
I had the intention to get fillers on my nose bridge because I found that my nose is very flat. I don’t think I have a nose bridge at all as you can tell from my side profile. My nose from my side profile looks flat especially the area in between my eyes, as seen from the photo below. Dr Siew recommended fillers for raising the nose bridge and a slight adjustment at the tip of my nose.
This is an unedited and unfiltered photo of my side profile. I was unhappy with my nose shape back then.
During the facial assessment with Dr Siew, he also found that my cheeks have started to sag and the lines surrounding my mouth were visible. Therefore he recommended me to get fillers on my cheeks, undereye area, nasolabial folds and marionette lines using Belotero® Intense & Belotero® Balance.
The nasolabial folds, commonly known as “smile lines” or “laugh lines” are the two skin folds that run from each side of the nose to the corners of the mouth. Marionette lines, on the other hand, are the creases that run from the sides of your mouth to your chin. Those lines and creases contribute to an older appearance and it can make us look unhappy and tired. Fillers for those areas can make a difference in my overall look and it will help restore my youthfulness. As for undereye fillers, it will help my face looks more refreshed and awake. In addition, Dr Siew will be adding some chin fillers for me to give more definition to my chin and to improve side profile of my face.
Other than the above areas, my other concern is my wide jaw that I personally found it too masculine looking. Dr Siew recommended me to do jaw slimming with Xeomin®.
Fact about the Products
Belotero® Intense is used to achieve a natural look. It provides optimal filling capacity for predictable, natural looking results while maintaining excellent tissue integration to minimise lumps and bumps.
Belotero® Balance (also known as Belotero® Basic) for seamless integration is the choice for the correction of medium to deep lines such as perioral lines. It seamlessly integrates into the skin and can also be used for the enhancement of the vermillion border.
Belotero® Balance made of a substance called hyaluronic acid (HA), a natural component of skin. HA binds to water, making it an ideal product for correcting wrinkles and folds, as it binds with the skin’s own water. The HA in Belotero® Balance is specially formulated in a proprietary process to create a uniquely smooth and cohesive gel. This injectable gel blends into the natural structure of your skin. It gently filling etched-in lines and wrinkles and creating a smooth, natural look and feel.
Hyaluronic acid acts as a water reservoir in the skin, drawing moisture to dehydrated areas. This leaves your skin smoother and more supple, and plumps up fine lines. Hyaluronic acid fillers are considered natural fillers and can last six to 12 months in the skin.
Basically, fillers can be injected into different areas of the face in one sitting to help improve your overall face shape.
XEOMIN®(incobotulinumtoxinA) is a Highly Purified Neurotoxin, is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles. It reduces or softens the jaw by weakening the overlying masseter muscle or the chewing muscles, which leads to a reduction in the size of the masseter muscle over time, resulting in a slimmer jaw.
The Procedure
As preparation for filler procedure, it begins with makeup removal and facial cleansing.
Subsequently, to make me feel more comfortable, topical numbing cream was applied all over my face and left to sit on it for around 20-30 minutes. I was quite mentally prepared for the procedure so I wasn’t feeling too nervous about it.
Before the injections started, the nurse applied an ice roller onto my face. It was my first time saw this tool! It’s literally ice on the roller and they rolled it onto my face, as seen from the photo.
Ice rollers are commonly used before and after cosmetic procedures. It helps to minimise discomfort and decreases the swellings and bruising that are associated with the procedures.
Dr Siew marking the entry point for injections.
He started with my cheek areas. I thought it was gonna be a scary process but I felt no pain at all. All thanks to the numbing cream I can only feel the needle entering my skin.
A filler injection feels like a regular injection. But in addition to the prick, I also felt something pushing against my skin. I didn’t feel pain but rather, a strange feeling when the syringe was penetrating into my skin layer.
Subsequently, he moved to my undereye area, marionette lines and nasolabial folds. After he finished with one side of my face, he continued with the other side of my face.
The skin is usually more sensitive at the areas where nerves and vessels are closer to the surface. Every person is unique, thus some areas that one finds more sensitive can be comfortable to another.
For my case, the marionette lines, the skin around the lips, tip of the nose, and nasolabial folds are my sensitives area. When the syringe penetrates those areas, I felt a slight more pressure during the injection, but it was totally bearable.
After that, he also worked on my chin as well as nose area.
Nose bridge fillers are used to raise the height of my nose bridge and nose tip fillers are used to sculpt the nose. It is the fastest and most convenient way to shape and lift the nose. Because the facial fillers can be added slowly to shape the nose with precision and the result can be seen immediately.
Lastly, he injected Xeomin® to my jaw lines areas.
Throughout the treatment, Dr Siew made sure that he helps me sculpt a natural look. The keyword for the entire procedure is “enhancement” rather than a “change”. The whole procedure took approximately 40 minutes.
If I could rate the pain, it was about 2-4 out of 10. They distracted me with a tool that looked like an electric massager, and they applied it onto my face. It helped to minimise discomfort during the injections.
After the treatment, they also advised me to avoid certain food that might cause our blood to thin and result in more bleeding or bruising. I also need to avoid alcohol, ginseng, medications that have blood-thinning effects such as aspirin and warfarin, Vitamin E and Fish oil.
Dr Siew also asked me to keep my heart rate low for at least two weeks after the procedure. Heavy aerobic activity, which increases the heart rate, can speed up the metabolism of the filler material. Intense heat from spending time in a sauna or under the sun should also be avoided as heat generated by the body also contributes to the metabolism of fillers.
Radium Medical Aesthetics Clinic also has a designated corner for the patient to do touch ups after the procedure. They also provided some products for the patients to redo their makeup and hair.
The Results
The procedure was quick and convenient and I could get back to my normal activities right after that. For Belotero® fillers, results can be seen immediately after the treatment. On the other hand, Xeomin® will take at least 2 weeks to set in and it may take up to a month for to see its full effect. I expect my jawline to get even more obvious in the next few weeks. After the treatment, for about 2 weeks, my jaw gets tired while chewing. But not to worry, because the tiredness eventually went away. The Xeomin treatment should help me achieve a slimmer and more feminine looking jawline. I can hardly wait to see the final look!
The above Before-After picture taken just right before and after the procedure.
The results were very subtle and natural, and you cannot tell that I got anything done on my face, except the fact that my face has been lifted and my features are more prominent now. There were also no scars and visible bruises for me. Thanks to Dr Siew’s special technique that minimises the impact from injections. There were only 2 tiny marks left behind by the injections. One on my nose and another one on side of my jaw, which could be easily covered by makeup. Those marks were eventually gone within 2-3 days.
To conclude, the entire procedure wasn’t as painful as I imagined it to be with taking into consideration that it was my first time doing this procedure. I am really happy with the results. My side profile is so much sharper now but yet my face still looks very natural. My nose bridge is now higher and nose tip is more defined.
The chin fillers enhanced my face profile making it look longer and help me achieved a V-shape face. Besides that, I also have fuller cheeks now and the undereye fillers help to eliminate my dark circles. My face doesn’t look as tired as before.
Dr Siew was nice and friendly, and he made me feel comfortable and at ease throughout the entire procedure. I believe that I was in good hands. Their nurses were also very attentive and caring.
Dr Siew told me during the fillers procedure that more is not always better. Overfilling is the biggest problem he saw in many patients. He emphasised that what was more important is achieving a natural and look, and I can’t agree more with him.
Thank you, Dr Siew Tuck Wah and Radium Medical Aesthetics for enhancing my facial features! I am very happy with the results and the overall enhancement boosts my confidence greatly!
