Joining the fray of New York Fashion Week this season is Pinterest, which has created a designated hub for content about Fashion Week.
The hub, which launched at pinterest.com/fashionweek, will provide an ever-updating feed of images and videos from several high-profile partners across fashion and media. Leading into the shows, users can expect to find inspiration boards from Kate Spade and ideas on dressing for Fashion Week from Michael Kors, Katie Garlinghouse, Pinterest's head of community marketing, told Mashable. During the week, users will see shots from behind the scenes at Nordstrom, as well as spring beauty tips from Elle, Garlinghouse added.
Additional content will be provided by Oscar de la Renta, WWD, Lucky Magazine and Man Repeller, among a handful of others. Users can subscribe to individual boards, or return to the site to browse Fashion Week content.
There are already a number of self-described "hubs" for Fashion Week. Among social networks, Tumblr and Twitter have had them in past seasons; Style.com and the official Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week website have also historically served that role.
For its part, Pinterest's place in Fashion Week will be different, Garlinghouse said. "It's less about the real-time photos of the event, and more around the backstory of the event," she explained. "For Kate Spade, we'll see what inspired the collection, versus actual [live] images of the collection."
Pinterest will continue its fashion hub with new partners for fashion-week shows in London, Milan and Paris next month.
There will be no e-commerce integrations of any kind, Garlinghouse said: "This is really about discovery."
