Aegyo sal literally meaning ‘eye smiles’ or ‘cute skin’ has taken Korea by storm for some time. More popularly known as ‘Korean Love Band’ eyes, this trend is also fast catching on to parts outside of Korea.
I had aegyo sal done on my previous visit to Privé Clinic but I didn’t write about it because I was still recovering and my eyes were still swollen. Though I realised most of you noticed it as there were comments about my tired and unnatural look… Most filers as I mentioned do not require downtime but aegyo sal on the other hand, does. However I can see changes and soon enough I’m very sure that it’ll give me the look I desired!
I was excited about the procedure as Privé Clinic is the only aesthetic clinic in Singapore that provides this service, which makes the whole experience for me rather exclusive! My interest in aegyo sal was sown back on my trip to Korea with my twinnie Miyake. Everywhere we went from shopping malls to subway stations, billboards advertising aegyo sal services by the multitude of aesthetic clinics were impossible to ignore.
As the K-Wave continued its euphoric rise so did my interest in aegyo sal. I was really keen on this phenomenon that’s swept over the Ulzzang and K-Pop artistes. Though I’m not too sure on just how many of them has it naturally but one thing’s for sure, they all look good!
There are many misconceptions about aegyo sal in particular, surrounding the difference between aegyo sal and eye bags. They are not the same. Let me give a pictorial explanation so here’s a photo of my eyes without photoshop.
The area (pocket) highlighted in grey dotted lines is aegyo sal. It’s basically a bulge of fat under the lower eyelid eye lash line that creates puffiness. It makes your eyes fuller and bigger rendering you a younger look. The area under the aegyo sal, highlighted in red dotted lines, is the eye bag. This is where a concealer is used to hide the tired and aged look.
As I’ve mentioned earlier and if you have noticed, a lot of K-Pop artistes have aegyo sal. You can also find a host of comparison photos online of Korean celebrities with and without aegyo sal. I’ll touch more on the phenomenon among the male celebrities.
As you know I’ve always been obsessed in particular with 3 male celebrities though I’ve been known to rave about Angela Baby, Lena Fujii, Leah Dizon and Janice Man as well. However in all honesty, there are 4 male celebrity idols that have caught my interest; Choi Siwon, Kim Jaejoong, Daniel Hennt and Nadech Kugumiya.

Nadech Kugimiya
Can you see what they have in common, beside the thick straight eyebrows? Yes, aegyo sal! Some may disagree on the need for aegyo sal especially for men but take a look at their photos wihtout the love band eyes.

Their eyes are visibly smaller and they appear less youthful! I ommited Daniel Henny as he has a rather matured look to do any comparison but just in case you’re wondering, he does have aegyo sal.
Actually I do have aegyo sal but it’s only when I smile but if you noticed, the celebrities I mentioned have them even without smiling! That’s what I precisely have been yearning to have. So when Miyake told me that Aesthetics Hub had informed her of such availability, I got really excited! I made an appointment with Dr. Karen Soh of Privé Clinic (as I stated earlier, Privé is the only aesthetic clinic that provide such service in Singapore) an as on my way to a happy love band eyes! Here are someof my before and after photos.
Below are some facts about my aegyo sal experience.
1. I wanted a natural look with minimal changes as I already have aegyo sal when I smile.
2. The procedure is painless with the help of numbing cream and ice. I’d rate the pain factor a 2 or 3 out of 10 (10 being most painful). There is a slight discomfort around the sensitive areas of the eyes but it wasn’t painful.
3. The fillers can last as long the fillers I had for my chin which is about 1 year.
4. There is a follow-up review at the clinic after the procedure to ensure you get the desired and best result.
5. The procedure do require some down time which is about 1 week. This is to allow the swelling to subside.
I’m really happy with the result of the procedure and Privé Clinic really made it possible for me to achieve yet another of my aesthetic dream. Much thanks also to my twinnie Miyake and Aesthetic s Hub for the information and help on my aegyo sal journey. I’m certainly one happy camper; me and my smiling eyes!
If you wanna get aegyol sal fillers u could go down to Dr. Soh at prive, as currently there’s no other clinics in sg that
