Underneath our team's dainty appearance, we are in fact a squad of zombie chasers. From House of the Dead to L4D, as long as there are zombie sightings, we will certainly ditch our lipsticks and pick our guns to fight off the hordes. That's why we hurried (Grabbed) to Zero Latency when we heard about its ongoing Zombie Apocalypse!

For the unaware, Zero Latency is a free-roam multiplayer virtual reality (VR) gaming zone that opens in Suntec City last month. It provides players with a hyper-immersive, and state-of-the-art VR gaming experience following successful launches in Japan, USA and Australia.
Our team took on the Zombie Survival- a 15 minutes intense game where we are caught in a zombie outbreak and need to destroy the hordes and rebuild barriers to protect ourselves while waiting to be rescued. Instead of getting infected, our team actually became obsessed with the undead, and here's why!
1. Walking in the Shoes of the Character
Before starting our adventure, we were asked to key in our heights into the Ipad. Later on, we learnt that doing so actually allows our in-game avatar to share the same level of perspective as we do in the real world. In other words, it literally put us in the character's shoes instead of controlling it through a screen. Thus, the elevator we see in the virtual world is the same as if we saw it in real life.

2. Sophisticated VR Headset
Thankfully, Zero Latency understands the agony of blurry gaming screens which makes zombie identification and acquisition difficult (especially at range). That's why they presented each player with a pair of world-class OSVR HDK2 headgear with 2k resolution. Trust us, the graphics details were so realistic and we were left questioning what's real. For those wearing glasses, you can even put them away and just adjust the focal distance of the lens within the headset.

3. Easy Navigation & Realistic Stimulation
Gone are the stressful times when you have to memorise all the keyboard commands, struggle between the left click (to shoot) and R (to reload) with your slow fingers while having hordes of killer zombies swarming pass you. With the custom-made stimulated gun-Raven, firing or opening the door is as easy as just pulling the trigger, and the best part is it comes with unlimited ammunition. Likewise, you can easily switch between the ranges of shooting modes (assault rifle, shotgun and sniper) by pressing on the blue "mode" button.

It's our mistake to underestimate the Raven as yet another "toy" gun for it's been specially designed to give maximum immersion and perfectly-weighted to stimulate the real thing. In fact, our arms started to feel sore just a few minutes into the game.

Yes, you too can forget about hitting that "C" on your keyboard to activate the voice chat. With Razer brand headphones and microphone, your team mates and you can experience an ultra-realistic level of surround sound and a clear and crisp line of communication.
4. Huge Free Roaming Space
Unlike other VR devices which need to be tethered to a console, the ones at Zero Latency are wireless and is strapped to your military bag. All this means you can move freely! Moreover, the total playing space features a spacious 4,200 square area, thus you don't have to go all solo for your VR adventure.

If you are worried about banging into your teammates or the walls, fret not! For you will get an alert with a siren sound if you are too close to your mates. A head-up display will also appear providing you with the location of your mates in real-time and how close they are to you.
5. Feel Proud as a Team
The play-through provides a unique experience with success measured both by a personal score and a team score. Though our team ranked 100th among the 200 plus groups, yet we still feel proud. Well, at least we are not in the last place and fired 480 headshots in total.
6. Helps to Burn Calories While Having Fun
We do think that there's no any other scenario that fits the "one stone kills 2 birds" description more perfectly than the VR game. With all the excitement, screaming, running and shooting, we not only have fun bonding with each other but also burn calories at the same time. This is seriously so much better than exercising alone!
If you prefer something less scary, do try the Engineerium- a 15 minutes puzzle that set on a fantastical ancient alien world, and let you walk up and down the twisty-curvy ramps. Otherwise, go for the Singularity, an immersive space-themed 30 minutes shooting game, where you get to battle through robots, drones, and gun turrets in the zero—gravity environment of a military space station.
