Here is a very interesting make up topic where the girls get their boyfriends to make up for them! Lo and behold! Who says boyfriends can’t do make up? Think of those make up artists, hairstylists (and gynaes)! Men have proven to take greater interest and succeed better than women in the supposed female industry!
Famous makeup guru, Michelle Phan!
This cute couple started and continued with loads of sweetness and laughter! Before applying the foundation, Michelle’s boyfriend, Dom, had forgotten the make up primer although there might possibility that Michelle has had her moisturizer on after removing her makeup and cleansing her face.
Dom cheated a little at the beginning by using whatever colour tone of foundation Michelle has been using! But he did miss out on using the concealer for blemishes, uneven skin tone and for the dark circles!
Not understanding and considering the difficulty of creating the smokey eye effect, Dom nevertheless decided to go ahead with it with qualms. However, the application of the eye shadow was uneven and he used the wrong brush to blend out the eye shadow, which Michelle pointed out as well.
The eyeliners were also unevenly drawn and extended to far which actually decreases the size of the eyes than enhancing them, but the blusher was applied quite satisfactorily.
Blair & Sawyer
Blair has already beautiful features to begin with and her boyfriend, Sawyer (then?). Forgetting the makeup primer as well, Sawyer proceeds to apply liquid foundation on Blair’s nose and then the other areas, not blending properly and sufficiently. Similarly, Blair as with Dom, had also forgotten the concealer for the dark circles which is a common problem and a must-do step in a ladies’ makeup procedure!
Thankfully Blair discovered that the blusher he was going to apply was actually a blusher rather than an eyeshadow, but nevertheless, carried out a wrong direction for the application of the blusher on the cheeks! It is meant to be brushed outwards and upwards (if you are looking into having a more slimmer and contoured face). However, the colour tone of the blusher chosen does not seem to match the skin tone of Blair’s skin as it is a little dark. He should have chosen a lighter shade of pink.
The worse has yet to come! Just check out the eye shadow!
The Horrendous Eyeliner Boyfriend
The boyfriend actually did made some effort to remember tips (which I believed advised by the girlfriend) when applying foundation on her initially, trying to contour for a slimmer face shape. The application of eyeshadow was also uneven, where the right eye had a darker colour than the left. On top of that, the boyfriend missed out on using a highlighter colour on the arch of the brows than to use the main eyeshadow itself.
The application of eyeliner was the most horrendous! The bf extended it too long and exceeded over the end of the eyes! Kinda reminds me of Lady GaGa…
The application of the mascara was acceptable but I guess that was because the gf have long lashes naturally that curls. But I thought the boyfriend could have curled the lashes further to enhance and ‘open up’ the eyes.
At the end, the exceeded parts of the eyeliner were wiped off and it seems so much better. However, I thought improvements could have been done on the blusher’s intensity and that the bf could have chosen a little darker shade of pink as the one he used was too light to be seen.
Lastly, I would really recommend him to apply concealer on the girlfriend’s under eyes as her eyebags and dark circles are quite prominent.
The Too-Much-Bronzer-and-Highlighter Couple
Too much bronzer and highlighter. The boyfriend is obviously just playing around with the makeup. The application of the eyeshadow was terrible, using the wrong brush, wrong colour and only one colour tone.
More importantly, the area to be applied was also wrong. Similar to the previous video, the eyeliner was also uneven and extended too far out from the end of the eyes. Wrong shade of pink was chosen for the blusher as well, it’s too pink on the girlfiend’s skin tone. The lip stick is a tad too red and wasn’t well applied and blended.
The Even Eyeshadow Husband
Finally, someone who make use of a concealer! But isn’t that applied too early? It should have been applied after the foundation and not before! Moreover, the liquid concealer might cause cakey-ness should a foundation power be used thereafter. Even if a liquid foundarion/bb cream is used, like in the video, it might just rub off the concealer all together, therefore defeating the purpose of concealing blemishes!
But even though this might happened, from the video, the husband actually blended more using compact powder which seems quite alright from afar. Application of blush was done in the right motion but a little mistake there by brushing up and down together on the same cheek. It should be brushed upwards for a slimmer contoured face.
He was right to apply the eyeshadow first before the eyeliner but similar to most boyfriends above, the husband did not apply the eye shadow evenly. Applying mascara before curling the lashes was also a mistake to make but I guess most of these girls are blessed with naturally long curly lashes… The lipstick shade seems to match the eyeshadow colour and even the blouse’s she is wearing.
From afar, except for the uneven eyeshadow, I guess the husband did a satisfactorily job even though the application techniques may be wrong.
The Professional Eyelash Application Boyfriend
Again, wrong application of the bb cream/liquid foundation. No highlighters and concealers were used as well. I must admit that the lipstick applicator stick is quite difficult to use, especially for a beginner. Eye cream should first be applied onto the ring finger and not directly on the skin itself. Blending should be gentle dabbing on the skin around the eye as there is the thinnest and most delicate skin of all. Also, using the ring finger allows the least pressure when dabbing.
Going natural definitely would not involve a bright red lipstick. Opting for a nude shiny lip gloss over lipstick would do the trick for that natural look.
Uneven eyeliner and extended too long as well. Using the eyeliner for the eyebrow as well was a huge mistake!
Putting on the falsies was a really a tough challenge but seems like the boyfriend could put them on very quickly and in fact, faster than most of us girls who are beginners too! Kudos to that!
Overall, if natural look was the ultimate look, then I guess this makeup regime failed because the eyeshadow, eyeliner and red lipstick are all too bold and strong. Definitely far from looking natural.
