“To comb or to brush?” Now that’s a good question. The eyes are the windows to the world and in that sense; beautiful eyelashes could be equated to curtains or window dressings that amplifies the eyes beauty. The selection of comb mascaras as reviewed was certainly beauty food for thought. The different results, individual characteristics of each mascara made interesting finds and most definitely answered the initially question with a resounding yes to comb mascaras.

When you comb your hair with a brush, it’s gentler on the hair though it only sparingly untangles any curls and so on. A comb on the other hand, can be a little harsh but that’s because the combing action actually separates the strands of the hair ensuring that it’s completely untangled.

Interestingly, the choice of comb or brush is also important to the eyelashes when applying mascara. The comb mascara usually slim-lined in design are really good for those who prefer a lot of separation and definition.

Our resident beauty review expert Chanel puts three comb mascaras to the test. But what was her personal pick of the three? Now that’s a very good question...

The Colour Combos Flexicurl Mascara is a 2-in-1 brush mascara. Its innovative two-sided lash applicator is said to provide volume, maximum lengthening, definition and natural curling. The Colour Combos Flexicurl Mascara reputedly has no clumping or globbing but there was however, a little clump and smudging issue when applied. Still, it is waterproof. The Colour Combos Flexicurl Mascara is available at SaSa and priced at $17.90

The next mascara put to the test is the Maybelline Magnum Volum’ Express Ultra comb mascara. Its curved or arched wand though initially peaked interest and raised some questions, actually contributed to the ease and quick application of the mascara. The mascara is smudge-free and waterproof and it gives a better effect in terms of eyelash separation and definition compared to the Colour Combos Flexicurl Mascara. Maybelline the Magnum Volum’ Express Ultra comb mascara is priced at S$19.90

SaSa’s Sasatinnie Super Dolly Powerful Mascara is a lightweight mascara that reputedly volumnize and curls the eyelashes. It’s easy to apply and when accidentally smudged it’s also easy to remove. The mascara is also waterproof and gives a more defined but natural look. The Sasatinnie Super Dolly Powerful Mascara is available at SaSa and priced at $21.90
