With a perfectly set theatrical background, replete with characters, space, music and lights, the Italian fashion designer Miuccia Prada started her Autumn/Winter 2014-2015 catwalk show on the second day of Milan Fashion Week.

Following her similar theatre style men’s show in January this year, the designer once again took inspiration from the works of avant-garde German artists like the late film director Rainer Werner Fassbinder.

Inspired from the costumes of Fassbinder’s movies like ‘The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant and Lola’, the Act 2 collection featured Art Deco print sheer shifts, simple black shirtdresses worn over gray turtlenecks, dark mannish coats with contrast piping in shades of yellow, red and purple.

Classic Florentine architecture and painters played as the source of inspiration for designer Roberto Cavalli’s sub label Just Cavalli. Titled as Rennaisance Rock, the line was decorated with geometrical marble prints of the famous Santa Maria Novella church and the renaissance artist Michelangelo’s painting of Aurora.

Decorated with stripes, animal prints, patchwork and collages, the ensembles included skinny trousers, cropped jackets, minidresses, lean cigarette pants and rich tapestry brocade coats.

American jazz singer songwriter Billie Holiday’s song ‘Violets for Your Furs’ was the main driving force behind the latest presentation of luxury fashion house Fendi’s creative director Karl Lagerfeld. Stressing on the concept of travel for the sake of travel only, the German designer featured coat-dresses with green-tipped Mohawk shoulders, fitted dresses and jackets with crocodile armlets and half belts.
