It's been a busy year for Diane von Furstenberg so far, and her schedule doesn't seem to be getting any less packed.
Diane von Furstenberg kicked off 2014 with a retrospective exhibit, Journey of a Dress, that celebrated the 40th anniversary of her iconic wrap dress.
Then, during New York Fashion Week, von Furstenberg unveiled her fall 2014 collection during a show that included a live performance by St. Vincent and plenty of gold glitter.
But the excitement doesn't stop there.
It has also been confirmed that the designer plans to head to Tokyo next month to participate in the city's fashion week. Japan Fashion Week organizers said that von Furstenberg will stage a show that recaps her fall 2014 collection on March 20, WWD reported.
Just last week, von Furstenberg made another exciting announcement about her brand. It was confirmed that Michael Herz, former fashion curator and creative director of Bally Switzerland, was selected to take on the role of artistic director at DVF.
His new role, which became effective immediately, sees Herz working closely with von Furstenberg, as well as leading the promotion, direction and design of the DVF brand. More specifically, Herz oversees the creative aspects of all ready-to-wear and accessories, licensee design, global advertising campaigns, store design and special projects.
"As the company continues to grow - and we continue to expand our product categories - it is so important to have someone next to me who will ensure that all products with the DVF name remain true to our brand," von Furstenberg told WWD.
Top designers such as von Furstenberg don't always host special shows during Japan Fashion Week, but in previous seasons, Angela Missoni, Paul Smith, Jill Stuart and Vivienne Tam have all have done so.
Japan Fashion Week, which is scheduled to take place from March 17 to March 22, was established in 2005 in order to strengthen and develop the international competitiveness of Japan's textile and fashion industries.
