You’ve seen Ultherapy at work on the web. The premise is so tempting because it is the only US FDA-approved, non-invasive, no downtime skin tightening treatment that uses focused ultra-sound. You’ve read how safe it is but other than cost concerns, you’re unsure of what to expect on the day after or even 90 days after treatment. We answer questions that really matter here in this Ultherapy 101.
How will the treatment hurt my pocket?
Let’s dissect the cost over a period of 90 days (skin lifting from Ultherapy is reported to continue to build over two to three months after treatment). At Halley Medical Aesthetics, for instance, Ultherapy costs S$2,900 for the full-face and upper neck. When you divide that over 90 days, it’s about S$32 a day.
Responsiveness varies from patient to patient. But further improvements are reported to appear up to six months following the treatment for some patients. So if your improvement stretches to 180 day, Ultherapy costs you S$16 a day.
What can I expect to see the day after my treatment and 90 days down the road?
Because everyone’s skin is different, results will vary. This table below by Ulthera, the company behind Ultherapy, describes the variety of responses reported by Ultherapy patients and when they may be experienced in the area of skin lifting, toning, and shaping.
Target Issues | Immediate | 1st Week | Day 30 | Day 60 | Day 90 & Beyond |
Skin Lifting, Toning and Shaping | Slight lifting and toning | Slight lifting and toning | Slight lifting and toning | Additional lifting and toning for a more youthful shape | Additional lifting and toning for a more youthful shape |
Sagging eyelid skin | Minor swelling | Minor swelling | Brow elevation (overall of outer portion) for a more “open” look to the eye | Brow elevation and Less hooding of the lid/more lid showing | |
Lax, loose skin under the chin and on the neck | Reduced sagging under the chin and on the neck |
How will I feel during treatment?
While there is some discomfort, doctors will do their best to make you comfortable before and during treatment. For example at Halley Medical Aesthetics, the doctor will put on numbing cream on treatment areas as well as medication to minimise discomfort. This is done 15-20 minutes before treatment.
“We can customize the intensity and power of the treatment to suit all patients. There is no need to worry about pain,” explains Dr. Terence Tan, Director of Halley Medical Aesthetics.
