When Dee Ocleppo recently debuted her luxury handbag line at Saks Fifth Avenue Galleria, her husband, fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger, was by her side.
The jet-setting couple is always together, Ocleppo said, as she sat surrounded by her handbags, looking fresh and elegant in colorful-flowered Valentino dress.
"We travel together. I travel with him. He travels with me. We have seven kids, so we have a lot going on," she said.
Occlepo's handbag collection reflects her need for function in life filled with meetings, travel and children's activities. Each bag has a detachable, reversible cover that come in high-end furs, skins and rich colors that change the look and feel of the bag. So, basically, she's created three bags in one.
Before launching her new line, Ocleppo had a lower-priced handbag line on the Home Shopping Network called Deesigns by Dee Ocleppo. (She doesn't use the Hilfiger name because it is legally owned by PVH Phillips-Van Heusen.)
Ocleppo met Hilfiger in 2005 on a beach in the South of France where she was vacationing with her two boys from a previous marriage to Italian tennis player named Gianni Ocleppo. In 2008, she and Hilfiger married and had a son a year later. Hilfiger has four children from a previous marriage.
