The buzz around town on that particular Sunday evening was arguably the engine revs of the million dollar machines taking part in the annual Singapore F1 night race. But inside the cool comfort of a hotel ballroom, there was a different kind of buzz; the kind that has million dollar smiles all-round.
The Miss Singapore Beauty Pageant 2014 was recently held at the Amara Hotel. Organized by ERM Singapore Marketing Pte Ltd, the event witnessed the crowning of title in categories that included Miss Tourism Queen International 2014, Miss Global Beauty Queen 2014, Miss Singapore All Nations 2014 and Miss Singapore Chinatown 2014. The winners in the mentioned categories will represent the nation on the international stage.
An Indonesian dance performance by all 18 contestants opened the event, setting the tone for an entertaining night. The contestants looked beautiful decked out in casual wear and accessories courtesy of kind sponsors Bag Charm Love and Jewel De Belle respectively.
During the self-introduction that followed and judging by the audience reception, the initial favorites were contestant numbers 10 and 11- Luisa Gan & Tammy Ng. But this by no means is meant to take the sheen out of the rest of the contestants. Each of them was unique in their own way and every one of them had a million-dollar smile.
It takes a lot more than just confidence to stand on stage in a room full of strangers. Though support and the presence of familiar faces helps nonetheless, it still takes nerves of steel to deal with the jitters. That said, all the contestants that night didn’t show any jitters (and even if they did, they did a very good job in hiding them!} as they paraded in several outfits that included cool chic motorbike wear, casual dresses and swimwear. One of the highlights has to be the evening gown segment. All the ladies looked glamorous in the beautiful gown courtesy of Dolce2Dolce.
Another highlight of the evening was the talent segment that saw the contestant putting up performances that entertained and wowed the both audience and judges. After the initial judging, 9 ladies made it to the final round. The round comprised of the Question and Answer segment giving the finalists an opportunity to further impress the judges.
Then it was time for the jewel of the night’s crown- the winners announcement. It’s interesting to note that the audience was as equally nervous, if not more even, as the finalists. And so the winners were:
Miss Singapore Tourism Queen International 2014 - Miss Luisa Gan
Miss Singapore Chinatown 2014 - Miss Tammy Ng
Miss Singapore Global Beauty Queen 2014 - Miss Jasmine Chye
Miss Singapore All Nations 2014 - Miss Siyamala
1st Runner Up - Gladys Chan
2nd Runner Up - Felicia Lim
Congratulatory hugs were given and received all-around as the winners were lauded.
So it ended, another night that celebrated the essence of being a woman especially in the modern time. The Miss Singapore Beauty Pageant 2014 wasn’t only about celebrating beauty. As with its other pageants, ERM Singapore charity cause has always been something close to their hearts. For this event, the theme was ‘Beauty with a Heart’ and all the contestants helped to raise funds for the Singapore Association for the Visually Handicapped.
ERM Singapore is no stranger to the pageantry world. They’ve organized many events as such to much success and in the process, given many women the opportunity realize their dream and even give back to society. The contestants are also beauties with a heart. Recently, they were captured by night vision cameras during the Miss Singapore Beauty Pageant 2014 Dining In The Dark held at Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped to find out what really goes on at the event in complete darkness.

We certainly look forward to more from them and for the winners of the night; we wish them the best of luck on the international stage!
