How Liposuction Saved My Life

Many people have only heard how liposuction has increased their self-confidence but in the twist of things, on top of making me feel and look better, liposuction actually saved my life.

You see, liposuction does not make you lose weight. The digits on the weighing scale would most likely read the same before your procedure. However it will inspire and motivate you lose weight after you see the physical transformation.

You’ll start exercising and eat cleaner. Heck you will even start buying supplements like acai berries for anti oxidants and fat burners to make you burn more fats when you exercise.

Yes that was what happened to me. I lost 5 kg through healthy diet and regular exercise, but still I felt that something was just not right.

Many people would say your fats would come back to other places after your liposuction procedure. But I know that my tummy wasn't the regular pudgy and big kind. It wasn’t disproportionate, as many would think post liposuction would make them look.

And I haven't been having my menstruation so it couldn't be a PMS symptom.

When I went back to Amaris B clinic for post surgery check up Dr Ivan Puah’s (a doctor whom I trust and one who not only does liposuction surgery but traditional Chinese medicine and health screening in his clinic as well) words put a weight on me when he said, "One year? That's not normal."

I listened to him.

I listened to my body.

Then I had to listen to my gynecologist break a bad news to me. I had a growing dermoid cyst in my ovaries. And it needs to be removed before it bursts.

Thankfully because I have been exercising regularly and lost a good amount of visceral fats, I am cleared of diabetes. Which is a miracle because I've a family history of sufferers.

Liposuction made me notice the bloat in my stomach. Liposuction made me exercise.

I don't know why I waited so long to check on my irregular menstruation cycle. Having your period once a year may saved me from the mood swings and costs of tampons but it didn't save me from being in the red radar of having cervical cancer... If a woman doesn't ovulate, the lining will thicken and create an environment where cancer cells will easily breed.

On top of this bad news, the worst news was that from the surgery they found out that my Fallopian tube is blocked and that my only ovary has low egg counts. I just got married not more than a year ago so this news is more than devastating to the soul and piercing to the ears.

Miracles might happen. Who knows... one day God may be kind to us and grant us a healthy baby.

Why am I writing such a personal account?

Because ladies, please listen to your body.

If you are too tired, rest. If you are hungry, eat.

If you are feeling too stressed up, breathe.

If you want to do anything in your life eg continue with your education, do liposuction, have a double eyelid surgery, indulge in Ben & Jerry's... Just do it!

Live life. It is when you are sick and down and your future uncertain with sickness, that you will be thankful that you wake up the next day. Live for yourself and no one else.

Things always happen for a good reason I believe. Liposuction not only motivated me but it also made me listen to my body. And though some people frowned upon my decision on liposuction, who would have known that it actually saved my life...?
