I can't believe I took so long to discover the beauty of lasers but it's never too late I suppose. I always thought if I do my own skincare regime properly, I do not need any facials or treatments. But seriously I was dead wrong. As much as I assume that I know a lot about my skin, actually I don’t.

Accessories

Instant statements can be made with interesting-looking accessories. And don’t forget that pair of cool sunglasses. Not only will it give you a sophisticated enigmatic vibe but it also protects your eyes from nasty UV rays. If you are a hat person, don it on too.

Wear wedges or espadrilles

If you are a slippers person, hey no problem. Just cheat with wedged slippers. Alleviated soles lengthen and accentuate your legs like heels do.

If you fancy slippers because it makes walking comfortable and fuss free, consider espadrilles with soles made of rope. Rope acts as an absorbing factor thus making walking just as comfortable as slippers, sometimes more comfortable than flats even.

Prints & Texture

Prints scream style, in a very good and impressive way. Texture, on the other hand, says classy and chic. A trendy cut or pleats would also add an edge to your pair of shorts. Do be mindful of cuts that add weight to your hips though. The dimensions, cuts and texture play can look deceivingly heavy on our bottoms.

Stylish tops

Pair that boring shorts with a stylish top. Shimmer and shine are the latest trend this Autumn/Winter. Or you could opt for interesting cuts and prints of choice. However, Momma always tells me to bare only one area – if you bare your legs, cover your top, and vice versa. So please do not pair your hot shorts with a plunging bustier.

Shave them

It is atrociously ugly when your pair of legs looked like a dense forest. Shave, wax, epilate or laser them off. In July, thousands of women joined the Hairy Legs Club movement, posting photos of unshaven armpits, legs and hands online. To each her own but it is pretty tough and very much of a challenge to show off your glowing sun kissed legs when you are not free from excessive hair.

Indeed there are many physical benefits to yoga. But this ancient art form is also known to boost the spiritual wellbeing of its practitioners.

Here are some yoga poses you can do the next time you’re at the beach according to Women’s Health magazine.

CRAB

[Beginner Level] Works core, shoulders, back, arms and glutes.

Sit with your knees bent and your feet hip-distance apart, flat on the ground. Place your palms on the sand behind your hips so your fingers are pointing toward you. Take a deep breath, and on the exhalation, curl your tailbone under and lift your hips straight up. Your neck should be relaxed. Hold for five to 15 breaths. Lower your hips and rest for five breaths. Repeat three times. To release, slowly exhale the hips back down.

LORD OF THE FISHES

[Beginner Level] Works core and improves spine flexibility

Sit on the sand with your legs extended in front of you. Cross your right leg over your left and place your right foot flat outside your left thigh. Keeping your left thigh on the ground, bend your left knee and rest the bottom of your left foot outside your right butt cheek. Place your right hand on the sand next to your right hip. Inhale and lift your left arm up toward the sky.

Exhale, bend your left elbow and place the outside of the elbow on the outside of the right thigh; press them together. Inhale, lifting your chest up and stretching your spine tall. Exhale, press the left arm and right thigh together, and twist to the right, looking over the right shoulder. Hold for five to 15 long, deep breaths. Inhale as you come out of the pose. Repeat once on the other side.

SAVASANA

[Beginner Level]

Lie on your back on the sand with your legs slightly apart and your arms at your sides, about a foot away from your body, palms up. Feel every part of your body sinking into the warm, soft sand. Free your mind. Free your heart.

To enjoy the summer better, practice yoga in the tranquil water with aqua savasana. With the same techniques as above, inhale and exhale gently while floating…

Yoga as we know, is an ancient form that is arguably as old as time itself. It has stood strong through the ages and its practitioners transcend the different cultures. Today, it’s one of the most widely practiced holistic forms of healing and wellness.

Breathing is one of those things in life that we do not give a second thought to. Most of the time these things are second nature to us having been a regular fixture and part of our daily lives.

Breathing is an automated process that has been a part of our lives since birth and for that very reason itself, it is most often than not (and for lack of a better word) taken for granted. It is only when our ability to breath is interrupted that we realize its importance.

There are a number of factors that can impair our breathing ability but as with any other issues, prevention arguably the best remedy.

So how to know if we’re breathing right? Here are a few tell tale signs of dysfunctional breathing:

[1] You’re inhaling with your chest. If your chest is the first thing that moves when you take a breath (inhale), it’s a sign of shallow breathing.

[2] Place your hands on either side of your rib cage as you inhale. You will notice that your hands should move to the side by about 3 to 5 cm. If this is not the case chances are you’re engaging in shallow breathing as well.

[3] If you find that every few minutes you have to take a deep breath, sigh or even yawn, it’s a sign that your breathing pattern is restricting the body’s ability to get oxygen.

Proper breathing requires you to be aware of your breathing. Just like with most things, when your sense of awareness is focused and heightened, you will be able to understand the situation and in this case, yourself better.

According to Ilse Middendorf, breathing expert and educator, “The awareness of breath movement encompasses the physical experience as well as the true nature of the self.”

Conscious breathing (or breathing awareness) is beneficial and provides a good foundation for better body and mental health. It can transform and even strengthen your overall wellbeing. A breathing technique that is often used in yoga is called “Pranayama Breathing” and this technique not only gives clarity of mind but also delivers physical benefits.

The importance of proper breathing technique can never be over emphasized. Breathing is important for 2 basic reasons:

• It is the only means of supplying the body with oxygen
• It is one of the ways we get rid of toxins and waste

If we learn to breathe properly, the body can function at its optimum capacity and this can even help prevent illness and other negative elements from afflicting us. Proper breathing also leads to better mental clarity and focus which will help us overcome barriers and challenges in our daily lives.

Sometimes some shoot requires us to have fair skin or flawless limbs because no one wants to look ugly or flawed in photos. And I have an issue with hairs, especially underarm and uneven skin tone on the legs.

I used to shave/pluck or visit beauty parlours for underarm waxing but I realized that overtime, they only darken the armpit and I knew this can't be the solution to it. Darken armpits also reduces my confidence of wearing sleeves clothes.

When I visited Dr. Tan at Halley Medical Aesthetics for my smile line fillers, I had the opportunity to chit chat with one of the therapists while waiting for my turn. As she is quite experienced in IPL and all, I asked her for a solution to leg and underarm whitening as well as hair removal.

Few years ago, I went to this particular parlour in town for an underarm waxing but the beautician bruised one of the underarms and the bruise only went away after half a year. I had to avoid all sleeveless clothing then. It was demoralizing so I told myself to NEVER TRUST any beautician unless they are from a clinic.

It didn't take me long to decide that I wanted to do the whitening and hair removal at Halley Medical Aesthetics. I went back 3 weeks later after the smile line fillers.



My initial plan was to do hair removal and whitening for both underarms and legs but the therapist told me to save my money; theres no need for hair removal for the legs because I only had a few few few few few few strands of hair. You can count them with one hand. LOL.



Because of my low pain tolerance, she offered to apply some numbing cream on the more sensitive areas like the underarms.

Halley Medical Aesthetics's DPL Smooth Hair Removal treatment for the underarm has two functions: hair removal and slight whitening effect only cost $90.

FYI, DPL stands for Dynamic Pulsed Light which is also the same technology used to rejuvenate the skin during treatments. You can also do DPL on the face in smoothening the skin and reducing pores. Reducing pores sound attractive!!



DPL is a fuss free procedure. Underarms took me 5-7 minutes while the legs took me another 10 minutes.

THERE WAS NO PAIN AT ALL!!

I could still chat and laugh with the therapist when she was focusing on the legs. It was just warm and fuzzy. After I was done with the legs, I realized that they were 2 shades fairer. Yup yup, the results were that instant!!!! So I went back and did arms whitening as well.



Zap zap zappppppp...



I had dry skin on the legs but they are much better already.



I thought I was shooting for Marvel, it was rays of light everywhere. But you can feel nothing except a slight tingling sensation when the probe touches the skin.

Pain score:
Underarm: 2/10
Legs: 0/10
Total time taken for both procedures: Less than 20 minutes.



I can go out immediately after the treatments without any downtime!! This is a bonus especially when it comes to face.

I was recommended to go back once every one to two months for maintenance. I can already see a lag growth of hair on the underarm areas. I used to shave every 2 days but now I only have to shave once every 5 days. Save me time every morning!

Remember, if you spend your money at the right places, you only have to spend it once every few months until it dies off. So it is worth the investment!

Confidence can be boosted with money. That is what I believe in now! :)

Yay when wearing slightly revealing clothes (I am quite conservative so you will not see me in too revealing clothes). And yay to higher confidence!
