IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is arguably the most utilised procedure and technology when it comes to beauty and aesthetics. Rightly so as well, it’s uses are plenty and more importantly, it’s effective.
B&B Opto Co. Ltd, a leading Korean company in the field of optoelectronics was present at the 6th K-Beauty Expo 2014 to showcase their latest invention- the SELATENA Portable IPL device. Unlike the most commonly and understood function of an IPL device, which is hair removal, the SELATENA is designed specifically for photo rejuvenation of the skin.
Apart from skin whitening and brightening, this easy to use device is effective in reducing freckles, ageing spots and acne scars. On the device there is a screen that indicates its battery life, number of shots and intensity modes. There are 3 modes of intensity to choose from ranging from low to high. It is advisable to start with low intensity as a safety precaution with gradual increase. As the shots are fired onto the skin, a light sting and warm sensation is to be expected.
A unique feature of this device is its sensor. For the SELATENA to work, it must come into contact with skin and as a safety measure, it will power off automatically if left idle for 60 seconds. Once the device is charged, it can be used for a period of 1 week. As with any IPL products, it is advised to wear safety goggles when using the SELATENA to avoid any complications to the eyes generating from the strong light that’s being emitted. The device comes in White, Pink and Red color, which adds to its attraction.

V1 is a facial slimming product developed by the Care Company as an alternative solution to help slim down the face without the need for surgery; which spells good news for those who do not wish to take the surgery route.
The V1 is a 100% Korean product and reportedly was funded by the South Korean government, which reaffirms the importance of the Beauty and Aesthetic industry in and for the country’s economy. It was the showcase piece for Care Company at the recent 6th K-Beauty Expo 2014.
On first sight, the V1 looks like an audio headphone but one that’s made for the face. It works by applying pressure to the asymmetric jawbone, cheekbone and also the muscles to help reduce face volume. It also helps to correct any facial asymmetry as well as achieve the much sought after facial V-shape.
The V1 is not a replacement for surgery per se but it is an attractive alternative when it comes to face reshaping. It is definitely another notch and achievement in the long-line of Korean beauty products, technology and legacy.
