Belgian designer Peter Pilotto will be presenting 16 looks from his Autumn Winter 2013 collection at the Audi Fashion Festival 2013 on the 18 May at the new Tent @ Marina Promenade. This will be his first ever Asian showcase.

“We are very excited to be invited to show in Singapore at the Audi Fashion Festival. Asia is a hugely exciting market because of its love for young British designers. It is a great opportunity for us to showcase our collection alongside other local designers; this will give us a more in-depth insight into the Singapore and Asian market which has always been very important to us and was introduced by Club 21 which have been very supportive of the brand since its beginnings,” says Peter Pilotto.

In the short time span since the brand’s conception in 2008, the design duo behind the brand, Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos, has already taken the fashion world by storm. Peter Pilotto, whom the label is named after, is half-Austrian, half-Italian and Christopher De Vos is half-Belgian, half-Peruvian. They met whilst studying at Antwerp’s prestigious Royal Academy of Fine Arts in the year 2000. When it comes to design process, Pilotto is more focused on textiles and print, which has become a recognizable signature in their collections. De Vos concentrates more on the silhouette and draping of the pieces, their different interests results in a very organic design process when it comes to putting together a collection.

For Autumn Winter 2013, the team has drawn inspiration from the decorated works of Spanish renaissance artists like El Greco, which results in a rather dark and medieval tone for the collection. Singaporean fans can expect sculpted, modern silhouettes that retain a sense of femininity. Wools and silks are textured with 3D print appliqués and embroidery. Exotic materials like finracoon and pony skin are incorporated into the collection and accented with leathers and high-spec knits.

Peter Pilotto was awarded the best emerging talent award at the British Fashion Awards in December 2009. The brand has also accumulated a celebrity following which includes the likes of Rihanna, Peaches Geldof, Kate Bosworth, Kirsten Stewart, Sienna Miller and even first-lady Michelle Obama.
