Age is just a number, and “40” is just one of them. But despite phrases like “40 is the new 20”, “40 is the new 30”, and “Fabulous at 40” being bantered around, we still can’t shake off the sinking feeling on some days when you see age catching up on you. According to Dr Terence Tan, Director of Halley Medical Aesthetics (Halley), wrinkles, pigmentation, and sagging are the main bugbears of ladies in their 40s who see him in the clinic.

But there are lots to celebrate when one is in the 40s. You have more or less “been there and done that”. Which means you know how to take charge of the future, and this includes taking aging by its throat and dealing with it! You are not the sort to mope around! Here are four things you can do to deal with the annoyances that come with being 40-something:
Smoothen lines that are bothering you

Botulinum neuromodulators like Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin® relax the muscles that produce frown lines and crow’s feet. When the muscles don’t move as much, wrinkles won’t form. This treatment needs to be repeated so consult a doctor on this. While you are at it, why not ask the doctor on how Botox® can give you a brow lift as well as treat gummy smiles and downturned corners of your mouth.
Then there are fillers that doctors can use to fill up nasolabial folds, plumb up the cheeks or other areas where you are experiencing facial volume loss to help rejuvenate your face. Both botulinum neuromodulators and fillers can be combined with non-invasive lifting treatments like radio frequency (RF) and light treatments, lasers, and Ultherapy to achieve better results.
Lift up what age pulls down
There many ways to firm up a sagging face. But if you prefer non-invasive firming methods, Ultherapy is one of them. Ultherapy is the only non-surgical, non-invasive procedure approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that uses ultrasound and the body's own natural healing process to lift, tone, and tighten loose skin. Your skin's response to this energy is to recondition tired skin by stimulating the growth of fresh, new collagen. The result is a tightening and gradual lifting of the skin back into a more youthful position and form-fitting shape. Ultherapy can also be combined with lasers which improve skin tone and pore size for that added glow.
Then there are various laser treatments like the 4D face rejuvenation that combines four different laser treatments to rejuvenate the skin over a single session. 4D laser treatment rejuvenates the face by lifting skin, reducing pores, improving skin texture and glow.
Slow down the effects of photoaging

One of the biggest culprits behind aging is the sun. We also develop pigmentation due to sun and environmental damage or it may be left behind after acne heals. Although not health-threatening, pigmentation may result in dull, uneven skin tone which can add years to one's face. To put radiance back to your face, treatments include laser whitening, photo rejuvenation lasers, and no downtime acid peels. You can also reduce the chance of photoaging by wearing a sunblock and wearing a hat, which ups your cool factor too.
Do one thing a day that scares you
Life is too short to be stressed over looking good. It doesn’t matter how old you are, age REALLY is just a number. When you feel great inside, you’d do more to look great on the outside. So climb that mountain. Learn a new sport. Sign up for an art class. Do something that would bring a smile to your face.
