[Blogger Trish] Halley Medical Aesthetics: To Fillers or not to Fillers?

A very important question that kept ringing in my head especially the last time I visited Halley Medical.

As what I’ve confessed a few blog posts ago, I actually did fillers last year and it has been a full year plus since and the difference (for me) has been pretty significant.

I wore lesser concealer, look a lot less tired or gaunt looking and I just look more awake and fresh.

Of course, as you all know, fillers are only temporary.
My sunken eyes were visible again after a year plus and I didn’t really like it.
So I thought hey, why not?
Fillers are not permanent and has no bad side effects to my skin elasticity whatsoever. Some fillers plump the skin by the fillers itself, whereas some fillers enhance by stimulating the body’s own collagen.

I visited Dr. Terence Tan again and decided to go for it!
This time around I opted for the brand Radiesse.

I could not even tell you how clear Dr Tan was in explaining this product. After he had sufficiently shared with me everything I need to know about the product and the treatment, I was ready for it!

The procedure is pretty simple.
First, Dr Tan used a white liner pencil on your face to mark the areas where the fillers will be injected and then numbing cream will be applied in these areas.

To help you feel minimal pain, this adorable ice pack will be placed on your face to further numb your face!

Pretty sure all of my nervousness went away when they showed me this bear.
Apparently it was making it’s debut on my treatment day!

Without further ado, fillers time!

The thing that I love about fillers is the result is instant and there is no downtime.

Dr Tan also uses this thing called a “magic needle”, which is actually a micro-cannula, that has been aptly named because;
1. It reduces pain
2. Dr Tan only needs to make one entry point and not multiple ones. He then slides this needle under the skin and this method ensures a more even fill with minimal pain or bruising.
3. Less bleeding!
4. No downtime, nope, not even the few hours or 24 hours before you can put any make up on your face. Once the procedure is done, you’re done!

The magic needle basically help prevents some complications that may happened after filler treatments so you can be assured of your safety in Halley!

Allow me to show off my sunken-free eyes and cheeks (:

The photo above was taken literally right after the treatment. Can’t even see the needle mark unlike the last time I got fillers!

Before you jump the wagon and start wagging your fingers at me for doing “surgery”, it is good to educate yourself of the benefits of fillers first.
Below are some facts about fillers that you need to know!

FACTS ABOUT DERMAL FILLERS

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are medical products, which sculpts the face for more definition or help to restore skin and facial contours to their former youthful appearance. Dermal fillers are made of various kinds of materials that have been developed for injection into the skin, such as hyaluronic acid, Sculptra®, and Radiesse®.

Where can dermal fillers be used?

Facial shaping and Anti-aging.

Facial shaping

3D projection (sculpting and enhancement of facial features) using a combination of filler techniques for nose, cheek, chin, and other parts of the face is a very effective way to create the sculpted v-shape look. Fillers can be combined with other treatments like Botox® and Ultherapy for greater effect.

Anti-aging

Fillers are very useful for treating age-related sagginess and wrinkles due to lax skin and facial volume loss. We typically treat the cheeks, under-eye area, jawline, and smile lines to reverse age-related changes.

What types of dermal fillers are there?

Hyaluronic acid fillers from Juvederm® for instance, are popular. It is a natural compound found in our own skin and is safe for most people. Sculptra® and Radiesse® are also commonly used. These fillers stimulate our body’s own collagen for long lasting effect.

How is the treatment done?

The filler is injected within or just under the skin to achieve its effect. Halley routinely uses a cannula technique to reduce pain and bruising. Treatment with dermal fillers should be only mildly uncomfortable. Doctors often use numbing cream to numb the area prior to treatment. Filler effects are immediate and the fillers are naturally absorbed into the body with time.

Important side note! If you’re interested to know more about fillers, I filmed a video with Dr Tan about busting myths about dermal fillers and I can’t wait to show it to you guys.

Just remember that me getting fillers does not mean that I am not happy with how I look or I’m trying to look as plastic as I can.
I think loving yourself goes way deeper than fillers will ever reach.
So it would be great if you don’t judge me for getting fillers because you think I don’t like how I look.

For things like this, I always think many times about it before actually going ahead with the treatment.
I’m just getting older and wouldn’t mind more collagen in my skin, really.
haha!

Thanks for reading (:
