BB Cream, CC Cream....are all these double lettered products confusing you?
BB Cream is definitely something familiar to you for sure, whether you're a girl or a guy. KPOP idols both women and men alike have openly owned up their usage of these products!
Not only did it sweep Korea when it first came out, it basically took over the entire cosmetics world! Then came CC(Correct & Care) cream which made everyone go,
What's CC cream? What is the difference from BB cream? I love my BB cream so much, do I have to make the change?
Here I have the Etude House BB Cream Cotton Fit in Natural Beige
and of course Etude House CC Cream in #01 Silky
I am definitely one of those people who was so curious about CC cream! As an avid user of BB cream I thought, I don't really feel like changing but at the same time I was curious about what the CC cream can do as I've heard it was the "improved BB cream".
ETUDE's CC Cream is the "Skin Polishing CC Cream" that acts as an instant skin-correcting make-up and skincare all at once.
I guess in layman's term, it's like BB cream but they notched up the skin care higher not by 1, not by 2 but by 8 functions!
Now that is a lot of functions!
It seems like Etude House decided that skin care is the main priority and thus the birth of the CC cream. Not only that, it also has the ‘Magic Layering Capsule’ of structures will also layer the skin with glow, fitting, skin correcting, and moisture when applying!
If you don't know what glowing skin looks like, think of the Korean actresses (or even actors) in your favorite Kdramas. Smooth skin, no blemishes and it almost looks like light is emitting from their skin. Just take a look at Krystal's face; the endorser for Etude House make up.
NOW THAT'S WHAT YOU CALL A GLOWING SKIN.
Now the skin care capabilities of the BB cream might fade into comparison with the functions of CC cream but take note that BB cream is a make up product rather than a skincare product. It does have some skincare functions thrown in but it is not as much as CC cream.
Don't let that trick you, though! "Precious Mineral BB Cream Cotton Fit" is the new line of Precious Mineral BB Cream, the global best seller of ETUDE regarded as “K-Beauty BB Cream”! Best seller okay!
They have also taken into consideration the sensitivity of some skin types! And so, without adding chemical composition such as Paraben, Artificial Color and Benzophenone, Precious Mineral BB Cream Cotton Fit is suitable to use even on sensitive skin!
Enough with all the wordy information and let's get these two tested!
Please excuse my bony hands but this is all I have. Haha! As you can see my veins are pretty outstanding and so we'll use this as a basis for the cream coverage!
CC Cream - it starts out as white colored cream (but don't worry, it will blend with your skin color, trust me on this!) and the viscosity is rather thin. Not too thin for it to flow down but not thick enough to stay in one spot.
BB Cream - flesh colored cream and it is definitely thicker than CC cream. The texture is something like your liquid foundation but just a notch thinner. Definitely thicker than CC cream but thinner than your liquid foundation.
The difference may not be as strongly evident at first but if you look closely;
CC cream's finished look gives your skin a whiter, fresher and glowy feel to it but my skin lines were still pretty visible, while the BB cream completely covered everything; the veins, the lines and it has that powdery matte finish to my skin.
Up to this point we can definitely tell that the CC coverage is NOT as strong as BB's coverage but if you're looking for that white glowy finish, CC cream definitely got that point.
Hmmm, let's level up the skin test shall we?
Gulps! Does this mean I have to take out my make up?!
Gasps! Here we go, this is before I took off my make up As you can see even with make up on my dark circles are still obvious.
and this is without make up...are you ready?
(FYI I KEPT MY EYE MAKE UP ON AND ALSO FOREHEAD SO IT'S FROM EYE BAGS DOWNWARDS, ALSO WEARING PINK MATTE LIPGLOSS LOL)
1. EYEBAGS 2. REDNESS AT THE SIDE OF MY NOSE 3. DRY SPOTS OR/AND BREAKOUTS
Thankfully I didn't have any breakouts or dry spots at the moment so only the first two points to tackle today!
Redness are quite easy to cover up so we'll see the differences on how the BB and CC cream covers my ultimate face nightmare aka dark circles and eye bags.
CC Cream on the right side of my face (meaning your left) BB Cream on the left side of my face (yep your right)
Tadah!
Verdict?
The cream hasn't really settled yet but you can see that it pretty much covered my dark circles! So happy with this I feel like I only need to dab a little concealer and I'm ready to go.
From this picture you can see the difference that it makes in my skin! The CC cream is definitely more whitish and the BB cream seems more closer to my skin color. Okay dabbing away.
Let me put a line in between to separate the BB cream and CC cream areas
It's basically the same results that I got from using my hands to test the creams.
The CC cream leaves a more white after effect on your face and coverage is a notch weaker than BB and the BB cream helps to cover up more unequal shades on your skin and does not have the white glowy effect the CC have, but it does help in covering up a lot.
CC Cream definitely does not cover as much as the BB cream could. Like I said earlier, the viscosity of CC cream is thinner and thus making it super lightweight on your skin. Once you start blending it on your face it will absorb pretty quickly. CC cream's main point is not to conceal or to let people know that hey! I'm wearing make up! Although it can cover very minor issues like redness, minor discoloration and a teeny bit of your dark circles, keep in mind that CC is for Control Care. Thus it is more for skin care rather than concealing your blemishes fully.
BB cream is your trustworthy blemish coverage friend. Though it is definitely heavier than CC cream, you won't be disappointed with how it can cover much of the blemishes that you do not want to be seen. However, you will not get the white glowy effect that CC has so wonderfully given. BB cream is more of a first step to your full make up hog rather than just by itself.
Depending on your skin's elasticity or moistness, I would say that CC cream has more of the moisturizing effect. If your face is not dry (like mine), then you can actually skip over the moisturizer step and go on ahead to putting the CC cream. It pretty much glides on your skin pretty easily and it does leave your skin smooth and hydrated.
I would suggest putting on moisturizer before the BB cream step, though. As I have said, it's pretty thick and if you want the cream to stay longer on your skin it would be great if you could moisturize your face before putting it on. I did feel my skin drying up a bit when I put the BB cream without my moisturizer but the CC cream felt okay in my skin.
Depends what your skin needs or where you want to go, really! If you feel like your face needs to take a break from the daily abuse of make up, dirt and humidity, I would say use CC cream for your skin to heal. You can still wear makeup with this cream but it's mostly for the No Make-up Look. Put CC cream, shape your brows, curl your lashes and put on your favorite lip balm and you're good to go!
Use BB cream if you think CC cream's coverage is just not enough for your face or if you do not want that whitening effect. BB cream is when you feel like putting on the whole show on your face rather than going for a natural look.
What if you want the skincare and coverage at the same?
You know what they say? Two is definitely better than one!
I don't think Etude House would be so mean in making you choose between the two right?! Of course not!
ETUDE HOUSE launched BB Cream cotton fit and CC Cream together as a make-up solution for any time, any place, or occasions to customers. For picture-perfect and flawless make-up, Precious Mineral BB Cream Cotton Fit can be used and for natural skin polishing ‘CC Cream’ will help to even out the skin complexion.
Time to take off my make up again and mix these creams together!
Remember, CC CREAM first
BB CREAM is NO.2!
Here we go! (Fast forward to me taking off my make up again) CC Cream first
Do you guys like to smell your make up? Or am I just weird
BB Cream next!
SO.AMAZED.
Not only did it cover my dark circles and redness COMPLETELY, the white glowy effect is still there! So happy! I didn't even feel the need to put concealer or blusher for the rest of the day. Once the mixed formula settled, I felt like there was nothing in my skin at all.
Remember, if you can't make a decision, go with both!
I think this is the only time it's allowed to love more than one, right?
My new weapons against bad skin! (and ugliness, lol!)
So there you have it! To wrap it up, CC cream is for Control Care = skin care and mild coverage BB cream is for = overall coverage and matte finish look Not forgetting CC cream + BB cream = for that picture perfect, flawless make up and skin polishing!
That's it for this advert! I hope the comparisons has answered your questions about BB cream and CC cream! Try them and you won't regret it (:
