Wear Your Man's Clothes

Wearing your man’s clothes can be more than just having his old t-shirt as your pajamas. Here are 3 fun ways to alter and repurpose your man's clothes to fit you stylishly.

Collar Necklace

Ok, I’ve picked this one because it doesn’t require a whole lot of crafting or sewing skills, so it’s perfect for newbies. You need: 1 collared skirt from your man, and 1 pendant from your necklace stash.

Simply cut off the collar from the shirt. Try to snip away as close to the seam as possible so there isn’t any excess shirt fabric at the bottom of the collar. Do not remove the front button from the collar, you will need this to remain there. On your chosen pendant, create an elastic loop by threading the loop in the pendant with some elastic thread (or even using a snip of a thin hair tie will do). Once the elastic loop is created, you can now attach the pendant onto the collar by looping it over the button on the collar.

Chic Tube Top

This super chic tube top is dressy and stylish. It looks like those deconstructed shirts on the fashion runway. All you need is your man’s long sleeve shirt.

Wear his shirt with the collar up to your armpits, so it looks like a tube top (or dress if it’s long enough!). Get hold of both sleeves, and tie them around your waist so it cinches it in, gives a great fit, and looks like a pretty bow. So easy!

Shirt Sleeve Bag

The instructions for this funky creation is from gwennypenny.com . It’s slightly more advanced as it needs some sewing skills. But I’ve simplified it for you here. You will need a short sleeve shirt from your man, and wooden bag handles which you can purchase from a craft store like Spotlight (or just use the handles of a bag you don’t want anymore).

Step1: Cut both sleeves off.

Step 2: Cut each sleeve open along the underarm seam.

Step 3: Place both pieces together, with the correct side facing each other. Sew along the curved bottom, and up both sides. Leave the straight top part unsewn. Turn it inside out and you should have the bag with the correct sides facing outwards.

Step 4: You can insert the bamboo handles into the top hem of the bag which were originally the hems of the shirt sleeves. If your handles are in one piece, you will have to cut it open in order to thread it through the seam. Make sure you cut the bottom of the handle which will be hidden in the seam, not the top part of the handles!

Step 5: Enjoy your cute bag!
