Don’t Focus Too Much On Your Goals

Think about your goals before or after your class, but definitely not during your class. Instead enjoy the moment, and move with your body. Clouding your mind with thoughts such as “I should master that Astavakrasana by next week”, or “Why does my Virasana pose feel wrong today” in the midst of the lesson is going to strip away your joy and make you lose focus.

Be an Early Birdie

Be a good student and arrive for your lesson early (at least 10 minutes) to allow yourself plenty of time to change into your yogi set, and cool your mind. Imagine rushing into the class with unkempt hair, and struggling to change your clothes fast. Girl, you got no time to chill at all.

Pay Attention

For yoga, sometimes we are TOO focused on getting into the pose, and totally ignore the details that the instructor is trying to feed us. But it will definitely pay off, if we give all our “ears” to the instructor till the very end. As just one subtle tip from them may help us to develop completely a new relationship with whatever pose we are trying to master.

Stop Being Judgmental

Don’t let your eyes wander around the room! Checking everyone out in the room, and comparing them to yourself isn’t a very smart thing to do. Rather keep your eyes and mind on the mat, and be contented with what you have or can achieve.
